Gabriel Jesus 2018-19 performances

I don't think he did himself any favours by starting so explosively because that was never going to sustain itself, but he's clearly at a difficult stage of his career and isn't quite managing to find his feet and decide what kind of striker he is. He just needs to calm down a little and it'll come. This season will be a tough one for him personally but he'll finish it with 15-16 goals and hopefully be a little more settled for the 19/20 season. We've had this problem with Iheanacho in the past where he could never quite pin down the type of striker he was and ended up trying to hard, which meant he was unable to hold down a place in the squad. What Jesus brings to the team's overall play is valuable so he has more in the bank with Pep than Kelechi ever did, but in front of goal is where he needs to tighten the screws a bit - I'm sure it'll come because he's a talented young man but that doesn't mean he doesn't need to put the work in.
I think he’s bang average for any age and if he wasn’t at City I doubt many would rate him highly.

Not going to quote the actually post as it does not deserve it, but bang average!! Hahahha Gabby is a very good young footballer and he will come good again. We are not finding his runs at the moment and when we do he will start banging them in

I commend his effort but his goal threat needs work. Saying that, today in the first half, Sane got in behind them and instead of squaring it for an own goal or tap in from Jesus, he inexplicably shot into the side netting. 8/10 times he plays that across goal.

Should have done better with that header at the end

What runs are they then? Seriously were he playing anywhere else as he is for us would you say oh he looks a talent let’s sign him up? He tries hard no doubt but he just doesn’t have anything special about his game. Not especially quick, not good in the air, hold up play nowt special. He’s very average.

Both our strikers look toothless at the moment. It’s an imperfect storm of loss of form, injury and our midfield turning to shit.

I dont see him good enough to compete with Sergio.

I hope he become the best srtiker in City’s history, but I really doubt if he can be good enough for the team.

I can't imagine he is particularly happy with his career development currently. He is essentially a bit part player and with the exception of the Everton game he hasn't really done much of note this season to change that. Lots of young players hit a wall whereby their progress stalls - some come through it and thrive whereas others have just peaked early. I really don't know which applies to Jesus but I have a feeling that he may need a change of club to get back on track. Maybe La Liga would suit him more?

What you can say about him is that he is far less of a goal threat now than when he arrived and that he is one of the few players Pep has failed to noticeably improve.

I`ve got a £100 bet with a Blue Mooner that the lad will not be with us by the start of the 2021/22 season.
Like you I`m not a happy clapper, neither am I a booer (never have been, never will) but he certainly is not in the league of Sergio.
He`ll show moments of great skill during a game, but unfortunately he cannot show it on a continuous basis for us.
We desperately need a Sergio type replacement over the next 18/24 months.Who that is I have no idea, but I am more than willing to eat humble pie should Jesus prove me wrong.
I hope the lad comes good for his and our sake.

Makes runs that our players just don’t see. Our back four were more bothered about showboating long passes across the pitch to Raheem and Leroy yesterday when Jesus was making runs into clear space and not being passed to.

He worked his socks off yesterday, was even covering st left back at times for their counter-attacks.

Young lad, bright future. The youngest #9 at any big club in Europe, in fact the youngest #9 at any big club since Higuain was playing for Madrid at 21 nine years ago.
