Gabriel Jesus rejects new contract offer - The Times

The lad is quality ..plain and simple. I reckon this season Pep has been concentrating on his positional play etc, what I have noticed with him being so young and still learning the game, is that at times his last decison in the box is sometimes the wrong choice. Pep and the coaching staff will be working on this with him.

You can see sometimes the frustration on his face because the goals will be going in, but he has not always managed to bag one.

The skills, taking people on etc are all still in his locker. And because he knows that it could be why he sometimes looks disappointed to have not got on the score sheet. However once he gets his positional play to a very high standard then we will see everything else he has in his locker flourish

Pep will be letting him know that once he has nailed what he is coaching him, then Jesus will have the ability to effect games in whatever way he can

Hardly a fantastic return considering the amount of chances we create in every game. ball bounces of him far to often when it really should be sticking. Anyway be interesting to see how he performs at the world cup.

Analyse his return by comparing his career with careers of world class players when they were 20 and you would know he hasnt done that badly. End product needs major improvement and is frustrating like sterling to an extent but thats what you get when you have young players. He will only get better from here. There must be a reason why he is rated so highly in city and especially brazil. Dont you think?

Must be a different Gabriel Jesus than the one who plays for city that will be worth £200 million. He's had an ok season nothing more than that, in fact end of term report would be "can do better".

It is these kind of comments that get me questioning some city fans. What do they know, expect or really want.

A bloke during the game v Brighton was constantly slagging Gundogen who was doing ok. Trying to push the team forward. He even shouted to get him off the park and replace him with Sterling who was not on the bench.

We have a team breaking all records and yet some still not happy or content for now at least. Enjoy the summer.

I'm going to take a wild stab here and say that this same "fan" also used to slate Gareth Barry. Am I right or am I right?

City are not playing the ball to Jesus, & supporting him, nearly enough imo. If you play it in to him & run in, there is a very decent chance you get the ball back, in the box, with a shooting chance, or the chance of setting him up for a goal.

We are more worried about losing the ball if he gets it wrong, rather than scoring, if he gets it right.

Every attack can't be perfect, we need to risk losing the ball in tight areas, in order to score goals in tight areas. The hollywood through balls DS & KDB were trying to put through Hudderfield's defence, is a far bigger waste of possession than trying to play a 1-2 with G Jesus.

Personally, I reckon Jesus was looking after himself in his last few appearances, young lad who had a worrying knee injury that upset him based on fear of missing out on a World Cup. He seemed very conscious of getting clattered and consequently don’t think he was playing anywhere near 100% in the last few games. Can’t blame the guy.

To be fair, I don't think the poster is ripping into Jesus there. It's wildly OTT to suggest it's a given that Jesus will become a £200m player based on what we've seen so far.

If he hadn't arrived with the reputation he had and we were judging him purely on what we've seen, then I don't think as many people would be talking about him being a £200m player.

His career with us so far has been hampered with injury so it's hard to judge, but he's doing well and I just really hope we see him progress next season. I like what he brings to the team, his movement is good and he contributes a lot to buildup play, however I think it's a little unfair to question those fans who are of the belief that we need to see a bit more from him. Hopefully he'll have a good world cup and hit the ground running next season (and stay injury free).

He’s doing well enough for someone of his age and experience. Not sparkling but ok.

Transfer fees are crazy. One good World Cup and that’s £50m on the price in this market.

I see Martial is being touted as £85m? Are they kidding?

Agreed

It will be on his mind to keep himself right for WC, just hope he doesn't injure himself by pulling out of tackles
