To those who have read the books which actor nails their part?

I think Rory McCann does a great job as Sandor Glegane - like all the actors really imo but what do others think?

The show is amazingly cast. I suffer a bit as I saw the first season of the show before I read the books, so I already had an image of what they looked/acted like. Of the introduced characters after season 1 I would say Stannis and Melisandre do very well. I think it's easier to say who hasn't done well, and I would put Mance in that category. However, I put that down to how his role was shown though, he was so much more at the front in the book.

That could all change in the fourth season if they choose to focus more on Mance with the attack on the Wall.

It's brilliantly cast Arya and Ned Stark in particular nailed it imo. Joffrey's cuntishness is perfectly captured, Tywin isn't how I pictured him at all and yeah Mance comes across differently, those would be the only real complaints other than new characters/major deviations from the book, actually Daario is a bit off too.

I don't know about Tywin, Charles Dance portrays him exactly as I imagined him whilst reading the books. The only big let down, casting wise for me, is Cersei.

Just got to watch it.
I've just fucking shit my pants.

Game of thrones just doesn't throw up the generic shit people expect, its frustrating yet awesome.

I agree, love Dance's portrayal of Tywin, but I love Lena as Cersei too. (though that could just be the twitch in my pants everytime she comes on screen)

I also think Lena is amazing, her scenes with Charles Dance and Peter Dinklage are amazing, i only have beef with Mance Ryder, also the guy playing Tormund looks amazing but he needs to talk about his cock more and needs more Har,was much more larger than life than what is portrayed upto now.

Jerome Flynn was a surprise as Bronn, but he plays him really well. Hard to believe that he's the crappier one from already crap warbling duo Robson and Jerome.

Peter Dinklage is spot on, as is Arya. Emilia Clarke as Daenerys is great too, but I might be biased with that because I'd crawl on my hands and knees over broken glass just to suck a fart from her arse.

I think obviously Dinklage is pretty great.

Little finger is every bit as slimey as you would hope and Varys is great too.

I really miss Strong Belwas though.

I think Charles Dance is absolutely brilliant though. He doesn't necessary look like Tywin in the book but his demeanour is spot on. One of my favourite moments in the series is when he's talking to Joff and he ascends the steps to the throne just to stand over Joff.

I actually love the Lannisters, they're far more interesting than the Starks. They're like the Bluth family without the mobile Stairwell, one of them even loses a hand :D

Stabbing a woman with a bun in the oven was a huge change from the book

Sorry meant to add Robbs wife in the books isnt pregnant and wasnt at the wedding if i remember righty
If fact that character isnt even in the book so when it was revealed in the show she was pregnant it was also going to end badly for her

It just really wound me up that quote saying how much its "drifted" from the book. Well of course it has! The books are huge and if they tried to put everything in tv show there would be at least 30 episodes per season!

I agree, but i also fell they went for cheap shock value by stabbing her, the red wedding is shocking enough as it is but the trouble lies in the fact that they cut out most of Robs bannermen so they lacked people to slaughter, where the fuck was the Greatjon and the Smalljon, both Umbers was in season 1, where was Maege Mormont, if we had got to know these characters and leaders of big houses in the north, like we did in the books then the whole thing would have had the epic shocking go fuck yourself George Martin moment that the book created. Now i know people nerd raged but to me the tv viewers just lost Rob and his Mam,the book readers lost all hope,5 years of reading smashed in 1 fucking chapter.

I totally agree re Jeyne. It was just cheap shock value. I have just finished the third book and that part held it's own, I was gobsmacked when I read it in the book, it didn't need her being killed like that. It she had to be there it would have had as much impact for her to have her throat slit in front of Robb. I don't expect a Disney type ending but for me they crossed a line that didn't need crossing and in doing it reduced the impact of the rest of the scene.
