Garcia on the contrary did not do much wrong, and did some things very well. he came off for tactical reasons

You've got to be taking the piss?

He was beyond woeful. So slow it's ridiculous. At times Wigan players just strolled past him without even having to accelerate.

He is shite, end of.
This is the only thing that ever needs to be said he is a one paced, one dimensional bag of utter dross sorry got to be said and though I totally appreciate fellow blues who give their utmost almost blind support to players, we've all done it , this player cannot and will not take us to the next level .
does the spanish national team boss also give garcia his "blind support"

Garcia is better than any of Man Utd's midfielders

Best header of the ball at City, Best tackler. Doesn't give the ball away. Reads the game really well. Can play central defence as well as anyone.

In a game where we are struggling to break down the opposition, you don't need a sitting midfielder. That's the issue. Not his quality.

Clowns :-)

Clowns? Garcia reads the game well? I presume U've never seen him live, he runs around like a headless chicken, rarely tackles because he's not anywhere near the ball most of the time!

Iv'e been going on about it all year to the misses, so tonight we just watched him and his movement for about 5 mins and he just lollops about trying to get infront of the opposition and fails!

Central defender? U having a laugh, he was even worse there, the Wigan forwards just pushed up trying to near him as they knew they had the beating of him, Bobby put him at the back expecting them to go 1 up front, when they didn't he got put where he belongs, on the bench!!!!

I cant see your smiley but i guess it must be a wink,as that post is very funny.
Played for Benfica and back now in the Spanish National squad. He's not a dynamic player. He's a sitting midfielder. You don't expect him to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. he's a cog in a machine, and when you get that you might have learned something

well said Marvin.

I think its do with biology with Garcia-he just cannot make his body do what his mind wants to do. Players simply stroll past him. I can't see how its an adjustment thing-he'll never be able to move quick enough.

yes, cos its ALL about pace isn,t it. wigan have it in abundance and are on course to be relegated...ffs.

our manager is not obsessed with pace. FWIW, the spanish team manager is not obsessed with pace.

Roberto Mancini does not require his central midfield players to charge around like a vinny jones type demented bricklayer on amphetamine.

Garcia played his part in one of our best spells of the season earlier this year when we rarely conceded, beat arsenal away and demolished stoke in the cup on their own ground, matches in which he more than played his part, impressing the spanish team boss along the way.....he must have been playing well...his form dips last night and he,s crap and not fast enough....i give up.

I actually thought kolarov a movement was better than any other player in the team, he ran a mile and got into some great positions. That said his final ball was poor and the output was poor but given the game time he has had that was inevitable and it will only improve with game time - didn't notice Garcia much. It is tedious though how there is stupid agendas against players without I think often a real understanding of the game

The obsession with pace is embarassing and if anything shows why England is so CRS at football it is this

Garcia's the best tackler in the team?

Is this one of those parody threads from the cellar?

pace is not the single most important thing in football, but we definitely get overrun a bit when we come up against teams that have high pressing and are quick. Our build up play can also be too slow sometimes. Way to solve this is to bring in a quicker CM/DM or bring in some more technically adept midfielders who can play at a quicker tempo.

Garcia is the......... 13th most accomplished tackler in the squad. ;)

Averages 1.1 tackles per game, joint with little Dave. Lescott's is surprisingly low but I guess many of his duels are in the air.

What sites do you use for these stats LC, cheers :)

WhoScored.com is my preferred, ESPN has a good stats range too. And Opta of course but have to pay for those.

I am sorry but all this slating of Garcia is quite frankly embarrassing.
Every new player needs time to settle both as a person and a player.
I defended him last year because we hadn't seem much of him.

After seeing nearly a full season of him, he's just too slow. You can't fix slow. Nothing he shows us will ever make up for his lack of pace and passing ability. Relegation caliber players were running and passing circles around him.

Meanwhile Moussa Sissoko, who has 10x more football ability, cost 10% what Garcia cost.
thats an interesting comparison - Sissoko displays a lot of dash and mobility. These are the type of qualities that we should have looked for (sorry Javi) over summer.

for whatever reason when they both play they upset the dynamics of the team, everything seems slowed down. Clichy to my mind is very underrated, time and time again he will pinch the ball while the opposition are mounting an attack and drive forward quickly, he suits city's tempo far more, his intensity is far greater than kolorovs.

The team was poor last night but these 2 were utter tripe.

Have you noticed when kolarov starts we are fucking shite..everton..wigan...

Both not good enough for where we want to be..i have seen milk turn quicker than garcia!!

Both players are not good enough in my opinion.

Garcia just isn't mobile enough to play in a title challenging central midfield.

If he could spray passes and creatd he would may be get away with it , but he can't . Sideways merchant. Poor player.

As for Kolarov, jesus fucking wept , the sooner he leaves the better.

Get a young, quick, enthusiastic, and less brain dead back up for clichy

No that's why he has played 22 mins and earned 1 cap for them which was before he signed for us. David Nugent and Michael Ricketts played for England, it tells you nothing.

IMO , Garcia never looks interested at all. His lack of pace and enthusiasm/work rate when he does play are shocking for a player who we paid £15M for. We need someone with the work rate of Tevez and the ferocity of YAYA.

Agree about Kolorov, disagree about Garcia

Correct, I can't believe how poor Kolorov has become. A top top player when arrived and I was ecstatic to get a left back at last. That injury at spurs must have done more harm than we think. Shame.

Garcia has promise, not that we should be buying promise at this start of the project. We should be buying established successful players at the top of their game. At least till another title or two and even a CL final/win under our belt.
