Garden Birds and wild birds thread.

Not much in the way of badgers in the garden now , they dont hibernate but they do stay home in the cold months , foxes still about , one nicked a rat merlin had killed , i called him in as i didnt want him to eat it he and left it outside , bet he wont be as obedient next time lol

Kawarthas? Nice. Nicer than Scarborough ; )

I'm a country boy, so Scarborough would feel a little too busy and claustrophobic for me. The Kawarthas are OK, I like the open environment and fields and Tronno is only a drive away. I'm not down there very often, the last time was to see Genesis at the end of November and I don't foresee being down there again for a while.

I'm surprised they haven't implemented emission zoning similar to Manchester there!!

I need to be down here for work (so does the wife) but that won't be for much longer. Her brother/wife are up on Simcoe and they have a place on Bark lake. Her other brother is on Scugog and we had friends on Chemong and Pigeon. We get out of here as often as possible. They don't need emission zoning to put me off going anywhere. I despise the traffic and don't go anywhere further than Greektown these days.
Still have a bit of wildlife here though, Cardinals nesting in the lilacs, rabbits, foxes, groundhogs, raccoons etc.

You're in the right place for work at present, but as you say, you'll be released in the foreseeable future.

About 10 years ago I used to spend weekends down at West Rouge and felt sorry for the people bumper to bumper the other side of the 401 on when I came down on a Friday evening and back to work on Monday morning. Couldn't imagine having to endure that on a daily basis.

When I first came over I commuted to Barrie (via Orillia) which I didn't really care for, but at least I was moving.

Will you be looking for a lakeside property? You folks have really pushed up property prices here. :) ALL houses are going for ridiculous money and mainly fueled by Toronto people selling down there and moving out to the peaceful lands. It makes things really tough for the kids trying to get on the property ladder though, but that's the way it is and they'll have to adapt.

I would love lakefront but there's no way I could afford it. I'll settle for a couple of acres, preferably on a hill.
I worked in Shelbourne one summer and fell in love with the area. I especially like Creemore (but that could have something to do with the brewery). With my family now in Cambridge and the wife's in Sutton, we don't really know where to go. Still a couple of years to figure it out. I would look at building my own if the right piece of land popped up.

terrible winter for birds in my garden, i dont really know what's happened. They nearly bankrupted me last year, feeding off 6 feeders (yes yes, i know), but this winter i've refreshed the food once and they've been barely touched....i get the impression something cat related has been going on, as my garden has become a total no-go zone the last 2 months.
