Been meaning to start a thread on this for ages...

I maybe to blame for this. Sorry!

I have zero interest in discussing the meaning of facts and opinions.

All im saying is kp789's opinion on Bale and Reus was just awful.

He can either waffle on about it or take it on the chin and ignore me or even better explain why he wants Reus more than Bale.

Quick thanks to Goo for taking up the argument about opinions and facts. Couldn’t think of a more boring discussion this morning :-)

It's actually a very interesting argument, especially when in the context of political and social debates, but whatever.

I harbor no ill feelings towards either of you for any of your opinions, you can think what you want. But just because you think something, or have an opinion, doesn't make it right, and isn't immune from being completely wrong.

So anyway, Reus or Bale?

You claimed an opinion can't be incorrect. Which in itself is incorrect. That's all
In your opinion.

Nope that's a fact... Which is different to an opinion... See my post above, I've already proved the difference.

If you want more case studies, I'm more than happy to PM you some.

Take what on the chin?

Why Reus? He is more of a team player, Bale likes to do it himself. Reus would cost less and if you look at his statistics they are very similar to Bale in terms of goals, assists etc.
I don't like Bale's attitude, yes he is a good player, but the whole diving thing irritates me. He is also only really effective on the wing. Reus can play as a second striker or on either wing.

It just makes more sense to go for Reus.

Fair enough buddy.

Not for me though.

I am intrigued.
I have always believed that to have an opinion, is to hold some sort of view or belief on a subject whether it be right or wrong, correct or incorrect. So for example, I could believe that people were always following me, when in reality no one is. But my belief would be that I am being followed despite the contrary being fact. I struggle to see where the line can be drawn if you see where I am coming from. I am not taking issue with you, I just disagree with your argument but please try and convince me as like you say, it is a very interesting and vast topic.

I will assume you have seen more of Bale than Reus? Which I have too. Both are undoutably gifted players. Do you not rate Reus or do you just prefer Bale?

Yeah im with you. I rate Reus alot and would love it if we signed him as he is a talent. I think though Bale is in that category behind Messi and Ronaldo. Can do it all. Reus still has a way to go to get to the standard Bale is now at.

So to say you would have Reus over Bale is not something i agree with at all.

The only point i agree with is the price aspect. If you said i would have Reus ahead of Bale as it makes financial sense i could understand your opinion a little better but i still would have Bale and would pay Up to £65mil for him.

I wouldn't be happy if we got him for any more than 35mil.

I'd probably be excited because I always am when we sign someone, but I think you're right that is a waste of money.

Bale is overrated and doesn't really fit our system. Not to say he's not a good player though.

Some of the shit I read on here is unbelievable.

thank you, nice to be appreciated for a change............

I also prefer Reus to Bale for us.

The first most sensible argument would be that his price, while not cheap, would reflect his worth, not overhyped and overbloated like Bale's.
Reus is a very talented young player, remarkably humble, disciplined and intelligent. Above all, he is a team player. He plays for the team. In other words, his ability and talent can be fully exploited for the team and at manager's disposal.

In a big club with a full of very talented players like ours a player like Reus will be more valuable than a bale type. Bale can shine in a relatively small club where he is the centre of the team and other players follow his style of play.

If we're gettin a bit 'Football Manager' about it... I'd have both of them instead of Cavani, Falcao etc. Those two either side of Aguero would be somethin to behold!

Just can't see it though... too much money

I agree... Stick Silva in the hole behind Aguero... Holy fucki.

------------Aguero-----------
Bale--------Silva---------Reus
----------Barry----Yaya-------
Then id put Gundogan instead of Barry.
------------Aguero-----------
Bale--------Silva---------Reus
----------Gundogan----Yaya-------
100 goals done.. :D
Holy Cream this offensive line.

that's more like it! im in total agreement..........perfection

Can any one explain to me why so many people here seem preoccupied with how much players will cost us? Its not your money - we are the richest club in the world, owned by people who could afford all of the top 6 clubs together if the rules allowed and have united as a feeder club...............why then should we be bothered whether bale costs 35m or 80m? we need the best players and you have to pay for that - didnt last summer show us anything?!

To continue with my previous post,
Bale's team play is very poor for the amount of time he has on the ball and chances he has to make a pass or shot on goal. To reiterate AVB has built up a style of play that works around Bale and I suspect that this is the reason for his shining this season. He is placed in a position of the likes of the Messi or Ronaldo of his team and has done a very good job at creating a book of tactical moves which 9 times out of 10 result in Bale receiving the ball.
Perhaps, Spurs have been trying hard to sell him in near future, if not this summer, then next summer.

He was shining before AVB mate

Not sure how anyone would argue Bale isnt ideal for our team.

Would add much needed pace, will take a shot from outside the box which is a rarity at the minute, versatile and would actually scare teams.

Id break the bank personally.

As a player, I don't dispute that he would be a great addition to any team. However, I think realistically he would not choose city. Add to this the fact of many financial implications.

Possibly agree that if he did become available that we would not be the only ones interested and we might not be his first choice.

However if Chelsea and PSG can spend big then I think we can as well. Remember Mario is off the books and Kolo to follow. They were big earners so Bales wage wouldnt make any difference to the wage bill I dont think. And the players we need this summer are in the £30/£40m bracket - we might only need two but if we dont buy them we will be left behind.

Paying £15m for a player worth £5m or something along those lines is just pointless now. Pay £40m for Bale, Pay £40m for Falcao or Cavani and then a few minor squad changes and additions from the academy7 and I think we are good to go.
