If only we'd not wasted money on Garcia, Maicon and perhaps Rodwell last summer, we could even have flogged Balotelli last summer to add to the kitty.

If we had bought Bale last year then maybe we would have won the league again ??

What was his price last year 40 -45 million ?

How do you know we didn't bid for Bale? but he turned us down?

Likes living in London, is happy on his wages and playing for Tottenham. Not a fan of Mancini nor does he want to come and play under him. Thinks X, Y and Z won't suit him and would prefer to develop further under AVB.

Oh....you don't know.

I can't understand why people think it is as easy as bidding 40m for X and he joins the next day. Player's do have personal feelings and emotions you know. As well as players like Bale and Hazard and so on having their pick of clubs to go to, Manchester City are not in their top three probably .

Woaaah easy on the reality sonny jim, this place can only take so much at any given moment.

If we can bring in Cavani/Bale/Fernandinho and add some younger talents to this then next season should be looking good.

If Tevez and Dzeko go then we need another striker as well as Cavani. -Jackson Martinez or Lewandowski
If Nasri and Sinclair were to be sold then we need a replacement such as Reus or James Rodriguez.
If Garcia leaves we could do with a Kondogbia or similar.
If Kolo and Lescott go then we need a couple of centre backs.
And if we can move out Kolarov then we need an understudy for Clichy.

Busy times for Txiki and his scouting team, I wonder how many we can replace in one window without upsetting the squad too much.
So you think we will be able to buy Cavani, Bale, Fernandinho, Martinez/Lewandowski, Reus/Rodriguez, 2 centre backs and a left back.

that's 8 players, and at least 170m

We have already sold Balotelli, rumour is Dzeko to go. If Tevez doesn't sign a deal, then he will be in his last year and would go for free next season. If a club such as Monaco or an Italian side offered us upwards of 15 million then we'd snatch their hands off. That would mean we need at least two strikers.

We all know Barry is getting on but he would stay on a lower contract, so we need a new partner for Yaya.....Fernandinho is supposedly the one we are chasing according to others on here.

We should never have bought Garcia, he's far too slow for the Premier league, we persevered with Dzeko and he wasn't a total flop, maybe Garcia will be better next season, but ultimately there are better players out there if we can persuade them to come.

Kolo is going, Lescott needs first team football, so we probably need at least one centre back and hopefully a good young prospect.

Sinclair has been a disaster, whether Mancini doesn't rate him or not, I thought his 20 minutes, (was it Leeds or Barnsley) he was terrible ! We badly need a decent winger/attacking midfielder.

That is quite a few players who could leave, which need replacing, plus Bridge and RSC are coming off the books. We lost the title this season because once again, when Kompany was injured and Yaya disappeared the squad isn't strong enough. The team didn't perform as well as last season in front of goal either, injuries to Aguero and Silva showed our lack of depth in the squad.

I wouldn't advocate wholesale changes and do agree that 6 or 7 is too many for this window, however we did go backwards last season, and we have two new men at the top who will want to make their mark on the team.

There are far more knowledgeable people than me on this forum who think 4 or 5 players could come in this summer, and then there are others saying Nasri could/should leave and Barry is too old etc. I don't agree with this, players should only leave if we want them too, AND receive a decent fee for them AND can bring in a good replacement.

We aren't a selling club, and we have the nucleus of a good side, we keep the ball very well, but are open to counter-attacking football, we were given a lesson by Ajax and Dortmund this season, last season it was Bayern and Napoli.

If we do make wholesale changes then good players should be able to bed in quickly into a good football team.

170 million is far too much, and we will receive decent fees for our players too bring this down, player exchanges are probably the right way to go for us, and we need to bring down our wage bill, which should happen anyway with some of the Hughes buys nearing the end of their contracts.

Taggart has already begun the mind games.

Busy in his press conference mentioning he was a player they wanted before Tottenham and what an amazing talent and athlete he is.

Make no mistake,he wants him........

I wouldn't read too much into it, he says the same about every player that makes it at another club, he said the same about Hart if you remember?

Pissed up old fool thinks he's the only person that can spot talent

But can he pass the ball 6 yards sideways to Barry on a warm summer afternoon at the Liberty? ;)

His price tag will have gone up today, I think Levy will demand close to a world record fee if an English club tries to pry him away.

He's a game changer.

He'd be worth any amount,he is that good.

I have no doubt we would have won the league with this lad in the team.

This lad is a world star,he's in that elite bracket of players who every team in the world would want.

Very few,if any,are attainable.I believe with some considerable persuasion,he could be.

If we truly want to be the best or,at least, amongst them, then Bale is a player we have to do anything and everything we can to get him to sign for us.

Sometimes in life you have to just accept something is not going to happen. This is one of those times.

Gareth Bale will never play for Manchester City.

So he does have similarities with Sinclair?

and perhaps even Mario......

Real Madrid bound 99%. Rumour is they are offering a choice of either Higuain or Callejon + cash. Most likely £40m or so.

Will be interesting to see this unfold. I really want him here, above any other signing actually but I don't mind him going to Madrid as long as it's not a direct rival.

A perfect player is Bale, he can defend, pass, run, attack and cross. His shooting is up there with anyone in the league but he has more to his game than any other player in the premier league. Hope to God we tempt Spurs with a good offer.

Bale in that colour makes sense.

Agree with all regarding his qualities but that in bold ;)

Bale will never sign for us, unfortunately
I have never understood why people make assertions like this.

Does he dislike us or something? Every chance Madrid will be in for him, in which case it's more than likely he'll go there but the prospect of moving abroad at only 23/24 can be quite daunting for some, regardless of income and security.

Giggs aside, he is in no way associated with United and even that's a bloody tenuous link. Though, if we were both offering the same wages to him, I would expect him to choose them but we've a fair bit of persuasive power so, you never know.
