Did a good job for us, and came across as a decent bloke, good luck Gaz Baz in whatever you do next, your timing however in the middle of MessiGate is appalling, this will slip under many peoples radar
funny I mentioned him in another thread yesterday, will go under the radar(even compared to players like Dejong), but for me unquestionably one of our really important early signings. Thanks for your time with us
Fantastic professional. Fans of every other club didn’t rate him. We knew better though. Was always a 7/8 out of 10 every game for me. (Apart from the collective horror show when Poch first took over at Southampton!)
Did a good job for us and part of the group who tore down the banner. Underrated by many and maybe let go a year or 2 too soon. Wish him well whatever he decides to do next.
I remember seeing a clip on the early city YouTube channel (when it was hosted by that Irish girl) that showed Micah and Lescott pissing about on the team bus and getting giddy. This goes on for about 2 minutes and all of a sudden Barry gets up from his seat in front and turns to them telling them to calm down like a teacher telling off the kids on the back seat. They both immediately stopped and Gareth returned to his seat and the both of them quietly chuckled to each other knowing they'd been told off.
Don't know what this offers to the thread but I think it tells you alot about Gareth Barry.
Incredible he was still playing. He was nearly 30 when we bought him ten years ago!
Definitely an underrated signing and player. He wasn't flashy or glamorous, but was a big part of getting us to where we needed to be and building a foundation for our future success. If I remember he had been linked with Liverpool for years and seemed like he was going to be a one club man when we signed him, which was a statement of intent in and of itself.
Thought he was great for us. Very underrated. Notice Sky didn't bother to mention the silverware he accumulated across his career - because it was with us.
