Gareth Barry...yay or nay?

Yes Barry is a great player and has done well so far but let the guy have an opinion fgs!

It's ok to disagree with him but don't start shooting him down and calling him a gimp. Just have a debate and let him have his opinion and give yours.

Didn't have a good game at Villa but other than that he's been superb.

I didnt think he had a great game against West Ham either, but I'm going off the massive expectations I have given his early season form, when he has been nothing short of class.

Its an absolute massive Yay from me.

lmao ok sir

Barry is a consistent 7 out of 10 player week in week out.We havent had a consitent performer like him in midfield for years.

He will never stand out like some people expect but he does his job of breaking up play and linking defence and attack brilliantly.

There's no need for it. Don't call him a gimp because you don't agree with him. It's only his opinion, you don't have to read it.

ok let me start with the following:

1.Yes I'm bloody chuffed we are doing so well

2.I fully back Sparky

3.I havent seen him live yet but will in 2 weeks and am aware sometimes TV doesnt pick up everything.

Now,I base this comment not just on the Villa game but what I've seen this season so far...

I dont think Gareth Barry is all that.

I dont think he's a bad player,I just dont see him as the be all and end all.

I think he was supposed to pick up that rag **** for both goals and didnt.I also know he was at fault for Dunney scoring the other night.

He has given away some horrendous passes.

He also seems too deep.

Also his concentration seems a real issue and he looks dazed a lot and tends to ball watch.

As of now I'd have Nige and Ireland as my midfield ahead of him...and in the role he plays I'd have a fully fit Johnno ahead of him(I know its asking a lot)...and I'd have VK in mf ahead of him.

So i ask, is it just me or is he a weak link.Remember I'm not saying he's a bad player, just that he isnt all that.

Thoughts for or against?

Congratulations on one of the most embarrasing posts ever

barry has never been a headline grabber, so in mamy respects can go un noticed to many, i cant speak on there behalf but i imagine barry is a managers and players dream, hughes and o'neill have both stated he's at least a 7 out of 10 most if not every game, and players seem to trust him! the 1 thing barry brings is calmness to our side, he seems to do everything at his own pace, a great reader of the game! i wouldn't class him as a DM he's got more strings to his bow than that, but he started out as defender so defensive actions are gonna be natural to him, IMO a great signing and to the OP . . . . . . tell your rag brother if he doesn't think barry is a top 4 player thats fine, let him stick with watching the ageing scholes the crippled hargreaves and "barrys england back up" carrick. barry is gonna be very important to us, im over the moon he ours, in fact for the job he does theres only 1 player i'd have prefered to have signed ahead of him and thats essien!
