Gareth Barry

He has good ball retention and his passing is usually good, although it wasn't yesterday.

What is getting on my nerves with Barry is that he's slow, but hes getting slower. He's now giving away more and more pointless free kicks around our box which only invites more pressure on us, especially against the lesser teams who's best chance of scoring against us is from set pieces.

We need more mobility and energy in our midfield. For me this will see the end of Barry, Vieira and maybe even Yaya, who just seems unfit and knackered after the first half (although this could be sorted with a solid pre-season under his belt getting him up to speed to last the full match)

When Milners back i'd like to see him get a run in Barry's role, after all, that is what we bought him for. He gets around the pitch better than Barry, which hopefully will stop our painfully slow build up.

not sure Mancini sees it this way. Milner, in the majority of occasions this season has been deployed as a wide-man.
That's where Mancini evidently feels he's needed. To be fair, we do have De Jong, Barry, Vieira, Kompany, and Zabaleta who can play that position. With Mario being injured so much this season, our left midfield options have been rather limited.

So whose fault is it that we have 6 players all pretty much from the same mould?

Milner, and subsequently the team imo,is suffering because of his extra versatility.

I agree. It's the coaching staff and the board who are to blame for not better addressing creativity in our attacking midfield. It's the number one issue for the summer.

Been playing well of late but was complete and utter shite form start to finish yesterday. An absolute stinker of a performance

I DISAGREE. :) I think hes a perfect player to have in any team wether its the first team or bench or sorting out the coffee's. He doesn't cause no trouble and does his job with minimum fuss. He doesn't score wonder goals, he doesn't have magical gliding fleet which make you orgasm and he isn't a Brainy super dooper tackler so no one really talks much about him.

Every team needs someone like him to keep the ball ticking and show a professional approach.
