To be fair to Gary Cook he probably had the thought running through his head, dont say United, dont say United.

How many times have you ballsed something up cos of a slip of the tongue?

I know i have, i was reading a registration plate out via our tannoy system at work and the end of the plate was something like AYW, so, as we do use the phonetic alphabet my tongue said Alpha, Yankee, Wanky instead of Whisky. It was a slip of the tongue, and while complaints were recieved it was human error.

Are we not all human?

Reminds me of the old Mary Franny joke

what was you speaking to him about shady?

he wanted to guage opinions on this forum towards the club and the current run of form mate....had a really good chat with cooky tbh....he is very much a part of this forum in some way, but he wouldnt admit that he posted....he held his hands up about the uwe rosler hall of fame affair and says he was genuinly sorry for the error, it was a slip of the tongue and he didnt have chance to correct himself (maybe due to embarrasment)....he knew exactly how many pages the garry cook out thread was on....some other blues in there on saturday night had called him a rag twat and he was understandably wounded by it all.

he is desperate to keep the fans onside and told me he has an hard job juggling the needs of each group...i.e. owners, players, staff & fans....i told him to concentrate on the players & making sure we progress and perform, the fans will quickly get onside then.

i told him he could build his tower as high and grand as he wants, but unless we have soild foundations then the tower will fall....he believes in what he is preaching and seems to take on board all opinions, which sometimes maybe isnt a good thing

cheers. you're right about getting the players sorted as a priority. Once he does that the fans will be full of praise.
Thats out of order someone calling him a rag twat, he made a mistake thats all. hes got to pick himself up and move on and I think by showing up on saturday night he gave the right impression. i certainly respect him a lot more for showing up, especially when no other current players/management did.

The level of immaturity shown by some 'fans' with regard to this most minor of incidents, is baffling.
I wasn't there, no, but my friends were there and told me about it at the match on Saturday. They're normal, level headed people and admitted that they too thought it was a mere slip of the tongue, and that GC was mortified and embarrassed.

To launch verbal attacks such as I have read on this thread is disgraceful behaviour, and really shows that you shouldn't be allowed out if you cannot behave yourselves like adult human beings.

To err is human, to forgive is divine.

I read this board every day and tend not to get involved with many topics, as I'm just too annoyed at the brainless-ness of some people to bother.

The team are lacking in confidence. The fans...the 'so called' fans, who purport to love and support our club spend all day on here bleating, threatening, complaining, and whilst everyone has a right to speak their mind, we all know too well this board is read by the club. There is a whole air of negativity on BM, the likes of which I've not seen before from a City forum. And you think they don't take notice.

If you were personally being slagged off day in day out by hundreds of people on the internet, no matter how 'big' you are, it's bound to have an effect.

I'm not suggesting we turn BM into a great big 'love in' but I've said it before...the old 'Fifth Column' at City...the ones who managed to bring the club down on many occasions....would not surprise me if it were just in fact, a section of the fans.

We can't win the league by October, despite the ever growing impatience. I'm not nailing my colours to the mast whether I'm a Hughes-in or out-er at the moment. I'm exercising patience. Which is something many City fans shoud try just now and again.

Garry Cook made a mistake, move on from it and concentrate on the next fookin game!!

Met Gary on the pre season SA tour. He spent a couple of hours with us all having a beer at the hotel in Polokwane and he came across as a sound bloke. He is a top businessman and that is what he is here to do, conduct our business deals and as far as i can see, he is doing a bloody good job.

As for the gaffe? It was a slip of the toungue, a mistake, we should all get over it as in the grand scheme of things it means fuck all. To slaughter the guy over this is not on imo.

Only the other day i called the new wife by my ex's name!!! Shit happens ;-)

Anyone who uses "so called fans" ina posting has no credibility with me. It's the mark of a Tubthumper.

How many of Garry's gaffes do we forgive, then? All of them forever?

Or does there reach a point when you think, "Hang on, this man's in the top job and he talks rubbish"?

Because I don't get involved with the 'cliques' on boards, your phrase 'Tubthumper' has no meaning to me, I'm afraid.

And I presumed (I apologise for presuming anything as you appear to be the resident mouthpiece of the board, to whom all must bow down for your apparently superior knowledge on all matters.....) that we were discussing Friday night's incident.

If I want to use the phrase 'so called' then so be it. I have no time for idiots who, whilst wearing the 'badge' of a Manchester City fan, see fit to go out in public and verbally abuse and threaten a member of club staff. Is that your definition of support?

so because i consider gary cook to be a gormless twat makes me a 'so called fan' does it? this isn't the 1st time gary cook has made a complete tit of himself he needs to engage brain before mouth.

Did you verbally abuse him in public at a social function at the club?
If not, you are entitled to your opinion, granted.

My gripe is with the behaviour of some people who see fit and think it clever to mouth it/ranting and raving at a minor 'gaffe' (for that is what we're dealing with here) at a social event laid on by the OSC, which, for all intents and purposes was a celebration of 60 years of the supporters club. I don't understand the mentality, that is all. But then, give people half a shandy and they like to have a fight.
