Gary Neville

It amazes me the ignorance of the anti flaggers at times and reading this thread. Not realising the purpose and thoughts of the ones doing it, instead very boringly and uneducatedly stereotype everyone and lazily calling people racist. It is pathetic.

On Neville, whilst he doesn't say what happened last week was down to white middle aged men, you have to question the timing of it. Why off the back of innocent jews being killed by a muslim, in a terrorist attack, is he putting out this statement? Whilst I don't agree with his words from his ivory tower, I could accept that was his views had it not been off the back of an attack which had nothing to do with British white middle aged men. You could argue the division that caused that attack was off the back of allowing anti jew hate speech for so long. Just a thought. Ultimately Gary Neville doesn't have a clue, he isn't patriotic because he played for England, he had to and we have heard many times how them players during his time didn't give enough for England so that argument is mute. The country will not unite because the left deem everyone a nazi if you don't agree with their bonkers behaviour. The flag isn't racist, nobody is demanding a white Britain, many want our own seen to first and our own affairs in order before we help everybody else out. I had to wait 5 weeks for a doctors appointment for what was quite an important diagnosis. It isn't racist to say that I want a better service considering the thousands I have paid in taxes and contributions, and I expect better treatment than someone who has come over illegally, put up in a hotel at my expense with NHS facilities on site. The day that view is argued is the day we really need to stop the world. If people want to enter our country legally, have savings, want to work and contribute to our society then come on in. Immigration helped make it a great country to begin with, not from freeloaders. It isn't the only problem don't get me wrong, the left will say we will be in the same position if immigration was tackled (like that is an argument not to tackle it) but as a country we will save billions on allowing them in and putting them up. They can chance their arm in the numerous safe countries they have travelled through to get to us. If we cannot get our own shit together, how can we prioritise others?

Not once did the rat faced **** ever care when he played for England, as his mind had been poisoned against representing England by Slurgie. I hardly remember him singing the national anthem before the start of games, or putting in empassioned performances.

Now he's the 'purveyor of patriotism'? Get the fuck outta here.

its such an emotive subject that any point made is going to be met with scorn or objection from one side or the other, the problem is the message that the flags are giving off, there is nothing wrong with a british flag being flown in britain and there shouldnt be and the fact that some people see it is an issue is part of the problem, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being proud of where you come from and nobody should make you feel that their is and that goes for all countries.

In my opinion the problem lies in the message those flags are sending by the people that are putting them up and people being unable to separate being proud of where you come from and being an ignorant racist neanderthal the two are not intertwined but people are trying to make it so that they are and its the broad strokes of painting everyone with the same brush which is leading to the derision and environment that we are currently in.
I said it on here a while back the country and it's weak politicians allowed the flag to be 'stolen' decades ago and it's happening again. We never learn really. Anyhow the flags may go but the people putting them up wont.

A lot of what he is saying is correct in terms of motivation for a lot of those putting up flags but the only thing I would pull him up on is on his fantasy vision of some previous harmonious country pre flag posting or pre Brexit. The make up of the Man U playing staff was quite amusing as well. My best mate was an African midfielder:-)

Anyhow well done for removing the flag Gary let's hope we all get back to.your capitalist wonderland ASAP and you can commentate on another tournament in a homophonic and mysoganist country and can continue with a large pool of employees to build and work in your apartments and hotels.

The division was nowhere near this bad before brexit and flagsit. Nowhere near. At least not in a few decades up to it. And it is still growing, with the same people championing it. The rest is fair.

so in a nutshell you are blaming 30k asylum seekers making it harder for you to access services? erasing 4% of immigration is going to change what? did you sleep through 14 years of austerity?

are you also someone who wants 'britain first' but wants welfare cutting and poor people blamed too?

Neville spoke about increasing division pushed by the right wing grifters like Robinson and farage-and he's right.

So as predicated, generalised points and accusations made. You think we are only housing 30k illegals? The very simple and basic point is I waited 5 weeks for a serious appointment, yet in one of them hotels they have onsite NHS services. Very simply, should I have better access to NHS than someone who has arrived her illegally? Yes or no? The 14 years you quoted is quite correct and it is getting worse by the day.

Neville spoke about division, namechecking white british middle aged men. Off the back of a terror attack involving a muslim killing jews. Please tell me the relevance. That attack is down to allowing the hate speech that has occurred constantly for months probably longer around jews. Yet somebody speaking up for their own country is racist. Neville is not right, he couldn't be more wrong.

and last year my dad waited 4 hours for an ambulance after having a heart attack..and then he was jumped on by a load of immigrants at the hospital who saved his life.

my mother had a stem cell transplant 5 years ago after being given months to live-the donor was a german immigrant.

30k ave a year is making no difference to your access to health care. I do empthasise with your frustration-our public services which we as ordinary people need have been deliberately eroded- and those people are happy to pass to the blame to other vulnerable people-and if reform ever got into power things would be many times worse.

That's why Neville is correct-he points out the hijacking of the flag for disingenuous reasons-to create fear and division whilst distracting us from the real reasons for our decline in living standards.

I thank the fuck he didn't. He would make Margarita Prakhatan sound like Maria Callas.

In terms of immigration, it’s always been either a main topic or bubbling under the surface. It did spike significantly post Musk in charge of twitter, the change in the government and what happened in Southport. All of those coupled with cost of living and Reform taking over from the conservatives and being pretty much a one issue party has created a perfect storm.

The timing of it is poor. It is. But then, the timing of putting the flags up is also poor, and malicious, and that is his point. Particularly given the last few weeks/months of how the flag was used.

It is a comment on the reaction, and those jumping at using the tragedy to stoke more division. And he is right.

He is not btw blaming the attack on the flags. The only people claiming that, are those that want to flame the division, and encourage more of reaction. I agree the flag itself is in no way representative of racism ir bigotry. But the manner of its use in the context and the message, very much is. And it is a pity they are hijacking national flags to do it. If you want to send out a xenophobic message, go and design your own flag, put it up, see how it goes. They are literally hiding behind something they know most normal people would like to defend, while getting the message sticking where it might. I feel for everyone that loves their country and finds it uncomfortable seeing their own flag misused in that way.

And btw, well done in taking a point that started out arguing the flags don't represent anti-immigration sentiments, and those that think they do are misunderstanding it - and then over the course of the post turning it into an anti-immigration arguement. Disproving your own starting position.

Which would have been before the decades leading up to brexit I mentioned.
70s onwards, we cannot do a poll(not that people would answer truthfully) for evey year in the last 50 years. I do not believe there are more people hating on foreigners today than there was in 1975, 1985, 1995........ it was depressingly a lot in all those years.

The daft thing on this thread is we have a tweet from a hypocritical twat going on about white middle aged men to which he is one about flags. All brought on by a Muslim born brit commiting a terrorist attack on Jewish people almost certainly because of Israels appalling treatment and murder of innocent Palestinians.

It's no wonder plenty have the opinion the world is full of nasty fuckers.

I ain't taking morality lessons from business man and huge hypocrite Gary fucking Neville even if he is right that many flag wavers are indeed racist wankers.

He will always be the Goats little bitch to me :-)

Did you see my original post. I presume you did because I said no issues with immigrants. Said our country was built on immigration. But legal. Them ones who saved your Dad and I am glad they did, are not the ones popping over on a boat are they. Try reading, engaging with someone and taking in the context before rushing with your buzz words and cliches.

You are still quoting 30k of illegals which means this conversation is pointless. Up to June this year it was reported at 50k alone. If you stick your fingers in your ears, shout loudly and ignore everything around you then you are very lost, all whilst quoting incorrect information and arguing points which haven't been made like doctors and such like who are here doing a great job. Our public services are hampered by assisting with people who shouldn't be here. It will not solve the problem but money and resources would or should be better used elsewhere. Whatever is being spent on illegals is too much. The flag has not been hijacked and you and others declaring it is something that it is not. Remember, this was raised years ago with people being called racist for having flags up during international tournaments and such like. People are using it now to say enough is enough. You cannot claim division, when Neville says comments like he did on his post. You cannot claim division when we allow hate speech against jews to go unpunished and then take the moral high ground. It is hypocrisy at the highest level.

As you said earlier, agree to disagree on what it was like pre brexit and faragism. I stand by that, from my own experiences. Granted yours differ, all fair.

Don't particularly disagree with any of the rest.
