Gas & Electricity

Only problem is that businesses aren’t even subject to the price cap, so they’ll likely not be able to afford to still be there. It’s a shit show, no doubt.
a few chip shops have closed down near me, one of the owners were saying the cost of frying fat has gone from £15 a block to £29, and the big trays you get your chips in 5p to 12p and then all on top of that the gas for the friers, one near my house shuts down this week with the loss of 12 jobs :-(

Putting more strain on the NHS we can only hope we have a mild winter for thousands.I think the country is heading in a direction not seen by most of us. People will literally just give up.

'When energy companies calculate your bill, they measure your usage by kilowatt hours (kWh).

Ofgem's announcement today means the price of electricity will rise on average from 28p per kWh to 52p in the October to December period.

Gas is expected to go up by 7p to 15p per kWh.

The price cap also limits the daily standing charge - that's the fixed amount you have to pay, no matter how much (or little) energy you use.

This will go up from 45p and 27p for electricity and gas respectively to 46p and 28p.'

Looks like it's going to be a dark winter, in every aspect of the word...

Really worried about this, got a 2 year old and another on the way. I’m a secondary school teacher and my missus is at home with the little one. £75 a week extra would really hurt us - praying for the government to do something, or whatever circumstances necessary for the government to change.
