Gas & Electricity

One thing i have learned in this mess is OFGEM have been absolutely despicable in their actions. They are there to protect the consumer however all their actions have been in favour of the energy companies.

I fully understand the governments fears over more companies going bust as they/we are on the hook for the failed energy companies. That could easily be avoided if they had robust standards for who could start such a company.

I do realise that they pay tax back - 100% of public sector salaries IS tax.
private makes - public takes.
put the horse before the cart.
You do realise that privatisation of the energy industry is arguably the reason why tens of millions are facing astronomical rises in their gas and electric bills?

Privatisation works in some instances but clearly it's not working for essential utilities

Is this because you think privatising the rail and energy sectors has so much of a success?

NHS Next? Charge people a grand to see a GP?
Already happening. I know plenty of people (down south) who pay for a private GP.

Even up here, I typically use a GP consultation provided through my work health benefit because I can’t get to see the Dr. at my local practice.

The MO of the government is to typically let a service fail and then point out the failure and push to privatise by telling us how much better things will be….

Rather than try and fix the problems.

There’s as much choice for customers in the energy sector as there was when it was government owned.

Sadly, some people don’t understand the downsides of the free market. Margins are so tight now with nothing left to cut barring wages, staff and humanity.

I realise that carbon zero and the Ukrainian war is the main reason for price hike - and WE ALL need to pull our belts in - the public sector included. they can not have pay rises, some people are blind to that.

Yeah, which is why I used it as an example.

Hopefully the next government train more doctors and nurses and invest properly in the NHS rather than throwing money at it that their donors can siphon off.
