Gas & Electricity

So businesses are now demanding a price cap as well. Have they not been imposing cost price increases on the consumer since January to cover their margins and cost of energy? As a consumer on fixed salaries, we can't exactly implement CPIs to cover our spiralling costs. Businesses had enough help during Covid.

I'm sure pubs charging £6 a pint will help with their energy bills

Those don’t solve the issue this winter.

75% of businesses gone and thousands of deaths by the time any of that take effect.
No, you’re right, I’m grasping at straws - its hard to say, but, our involvement in Ukraine can't go on forever - If it does we can see horrific knock on effects - 80% pubs and restaurants to close - its a real 'dig-in’ war like effort we need here - but our society is bloated and selfish, and hasn’t the stomach for it - some SERIOUS waking up to do - this forum is a reflection to that...It's all about me, but thats the world we live in, well did.

It a perfect storm and people need help. All people, wherever they work and whatever you think of their job.

Society is far more selfish than it ever has been before and maybe something like what is about to happen may begin to recalibrate peoples’ attitudes.

A sandwich shop getting energy quotes for 6k a month can hardly try selling you a buttie for £20 can they. Jesus some ignorance in this post.

Not sure adding 20p onto a pint is going to cover their new bills.

Me neither.

My sister is a community mental health nurse and is totally overworked. Treated poorly by NHS management …….oh and all for the princely salary of £36k.
The government rightly get criticism for their running of the NHS but these NHS Managers or at least a sizeable proportion are in many ways responsible for a lot of the woes of the service, many are beyond inept and callous in the extreme.

Never understood the hate for public sector, why would you want them underpaid? It's bizarre.
No, and I’ve never understood the naivety of public sector employees when it comes to ‘understanding’ just where their money comes from, but hey ho, we're all stupid here, aren’t we.
