Gas & Electricity

Ha ha. We have booked a lodge for this weekend. £245 and it’s nice and warm.

I know we’ll be paying a lot heating with radiators, but what EDF say I am using on their Energy Hub - take note, because that’s significant! - seems stupidly high.

Long story short, what they say you are using on the Energy Hub is complete cobblers - when I look at their readings in the bills and statements section, it lines up with my meter and is HALF what the Energy Hub says.
Perhaps I've misunderstood but I'm with EDF and mine seems pretty much spot on?

How much electricity are you using a day? If you are down at a few Kwh, you probably won’t notice it.

I have the smart meter set to half hour readings, and when our boiler was broken, I noticed that putting on a 2Kw panel radiator would show as 2 kw each half hour (I.e. 4 kw used in one hour). Easy to spot because nighttime uses is ~ 0.2kw in each half hour slot and my wife put the heater on a few times in the night. There were also stupidly high spikes whenever the oven and washing machine were on. Yes the spikes were where I would expect them to be but not the amount.

As I said, the amount they are taking off my account is correct and lines up with what the meter says. It was just a bit of a shock when I thought we were using £40-£60 a day.

Maybe yours and everybody else’s is OK but mine definitely isn’t. Whilst it’s fun to look at the figures, I now just read my meter every so often. Do a Google on “EDF” and “Kraken” and you will see they have basically lost control of their data processing.

Ahh, I never actually look at the "smart" meter, I only use the online energy hub and that does appear to be accurate. 3,599 kWh electric and 11,200 kWh gas in the previous full year, can't say I bother with the daily usage.

I don't usually bother with daily usage, but as we were heating the house via 5 electric radiators for a couple of weeks, I was interested in keeping an eye on it.

To put it into context, your annual usage is 3599 kWh electric - according to the EDF energy hub, we used 1326 kWh in November. However, in the bills section, it's a much more reasonable 577 kWH from 12th Oct - 26th November.

So you can see why I describe their energy hub data as "cobblers" :)

I'm with Scottish Power, electric only. I've just come off a fixed rate tariff and been put on 'Standard Online' Opera Snapshot_2023-12-13_124016_mail.google.com.pngSounds too good to be true. £377 in credit as well.

My bill has just landed.

I'm disappointed I didn't stay under £100. :-(

Just bought a dehumidifier so I won't be using my tumble drier from now on to dry my clothes during winter.

With Christmas coming up my bill will be higher next month.

So the Energy companies are going to recoup bad debts by charging the good payers more? Bloody hell why doesn’t this useless government step in and stop them, it is tantamount to being blackmailed.

So much for Ofgem what a bunch of useless twats they are to not stand up to these companies and tell them bad debt isn’t the problem of the honest bill payer

So i am a low user , a poor person but i have never got into trouble paying my gas and electric bills but i have to pay more to cover bad debts ! Cunts

I’ve no problem contributing to paying the debt so long as they reimburse us once they’ve recouped the money from the debtors or don’t mither the debtors.

Fat chance as once we all got wise none of us would bother paying it so what will happen is they’ll get paid twice or sell it to a debt collector for 20p in the £1 so will be “up” on the debit or the debt collectors will be.

So given this the government should underwrite the debt as they have the power to get the money back from the power companies.
