Gas & Electricity

Dryer, 100%.
I’ve found that a full wash can be dried in a dryer for about 60p in a condensing dryer.

Our dishwasher costs more to run. It is an older model though and the newer economical versions are very expensive to buy, so will run our old’un into the ground before upgrading.

Had to bale from Agile owing to difficulty acquiring half hourly data. As of today we're on 12m fixed, no exit fees.
They said they have placed us on a waiting list for one of their meter signal boosters so we shall see.
Probably go back to Agile in March.

Hi Gunny,
Following our call today, a complaint has been opened regarding the issues you are facing with the smart meter connectivity and how this is affecting your billing. Your complaint reference is 1*****9.
From today, both gas and electricity have been moved to our 12M Fixed rate tariff.
I am now requesting the missing electricity data in an attempt to bill as much of this as I can on the Agile tariff.

For the days we cannot receive, this will be billed on Flexible Octopus however, I am happy to discuss a cost difference once we have managed to complete the billing.

The readings should be with me in the 24 hours however, I will make a few attempts over the next couple of days to gather as much as possible from the meter. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Kind Regards. Customer Happiness and Smart Metering Specialist

Thanks for your reply Chris, we do understand the mechanics of Agile when a connection to meter is made.

However on the basis you cannot acheive half hour readings, it would be best if we revert back to your fixed tarrif.

The only point of interest is our billing from October to now? What would you propose if you cannot gain access to our half hour readings. The effort we have made to ensure we accessed plunge pricing and low tarrifs and avoided the peaks of 1600-19-00 has been monumental. Would you be averaging out a sensible kwh price to reflect this lost data?

Thanks: Gunny:

We don’t have a tumble dryer, we just wash our clothes in the washing machine on low temperature and if it is raining, we put the clothes on a clothes horse in the garage. It rarely fails, and if still damp we put it in the conservatory

Our heating has been on 24 hours, I’m experimenting to see if keeping it at a constant 20 is cheaper or comparable to trying to put on twice a day in which it will probably never get to from around 16. The house is just right and as the wife works from home, her been wrapped in a blanket is not really and option. I’m still struggling of best place to put the room thermostat, the hallway has penguins skating in it and radiator has no trv so to get to 20 is a nightmare, every other room has a trv so is regulated that way. If I place the thermostat in front room that’s ok until we put the log burner on, then that heats up the room massively but the stat will turn off making the rest of the house cold.

Would a halogen heater in the room she works in not work out cheaper to run?

She’s in our open plan downstairs mate, on the change so her body temperature all over the place, our house is a cold house anyway, insulated as much as possible as well. I’m waiting for my reading from octopus to come in today to see how it went, I do t expect it to be cheap but we have a lot in our reserve just for this sort of thing.

Had my first day with Tomato Energy, just under 12kwh for £1.36 can't grumble with that. So just under £2 with the standing charge.
