The FT ran an interview with him this afternoon.

He’s campaigning a lot in his own constituency, which I think is fair enough.
Like GDM said he has the second/third most important and influential role in government. I am genuinely surprised by how low his profile is.... I mean an FT interview is not high profile.

He should be addressing the nation and advising of Tories spending and financial plans and strategy.

It would be in anyone's interest who wants to be a future Tory leader to go awol for the next few weeks.

Spoke to a senior Tory today.

Educated lawyer and advisor.

His opinion.

Capital gains tax is going to go up to 45 pecent. A matter of when but will not be long.

The unions are in Raynors ear like you would not believe and we are essentially going back to into the Eu in all but name.

Labours spin in 6 months will be things are far worse than we thought and then the tax rises will start.

Positive is that there are some huge infrastructure projects planned - interestingly funded by the private sector. Pfi style almost. Starmer meets Blair once a month and we will see some similarities.

He actually spoke highly of the soon to be chancellor but said the Labour Party will imlode in much the same way the Tory’s have as there will be a battle between the extreme left and centrists. Largely typed this as I want to see what comes true of it in a couple of years time.
Is he a Tory?

Perhaps he could have had a higher profile, but I would also question whether Reeves has had an appreciably higher profile? I wouldn’t say she has.

He's only in that job to clean up after Truss. Tories don't like him.
