So how do we decide what is needed? Do we vote on it? What if the vote is perfectly split? Who decides?

What if I have what so think is a great idea for a new product that nobody has asked for because it doesn’t exist yet? Who decides if I should make my new product?

We discuss, we debate and we seek to change minds, that is how democracy works.

What makes the planning agencies any more qualified to do this job than the current bosses in our capitalist world today?

Capitalism works for the benefit of the owners of capital, they make decisions based on profit rather than need and value.

How do individuals attract our vote to democratically become elected to the planning agencies?

The same way any elected official would get elected.

I think you are looking at this the wrong way around, currently we have government from the top down, socialism ecourages government from the bottom up.

How do they get paid if they don’t produce anything?

Many people already get paid for producing nothing of material value, but they are still vital members of a functioning society,

Do I pay taxes?

That would depend, if the profit motive is taken out of any means of production and what is produced is for the benefit of society as a whole, i can envisage that there would be little reason to tax anyone. Taxes generally pay for state largesse and capitalism works because they use Socialism for the already wealthy.

Do we all earn the same and pay the same?

Some Utopian Socialists may say so, I do not adhere to that and there would have to be a democratic decision made on what is fair and what is not. What we do have at the moment is a massive wealth disparity and that needs to be addressed. Questions like should bankers earn more than bricklayers, should MPs earn more than mechanics, should train drivers earn more than taxi drivers etc.

Also work life balance needs to be addressed, it makes no sense to me for a worker to have to work extra hours to pay for childcare for instance when they could work less hours and spend more time with their own kids.

I have a lot more questions mate but I’ll start with them…

I do not have all the answers, but i have grown up in a time of increasing inequality, increasing poverty, austerity and rampant capitalism and its a sad indictment of our country that now the far right are gaining traction on the back of it. Fascism has always gained traction with the backing of the squeezed middle classes and the disaffected working class who see no hope. Socialism is so misunderstood, (even by me at times) and it is in the interests of those with capital to deride Socialism and they do it effectively with the backing of a client media.

The Labour party has all but abandoned any pretext of being Socialist, it is at best Communitarian, it is happy with obscene wealth that trickles down just like Thatcher envisaged. I want a fair society where everyone can eat, has a home, goes to a decent school, gets the best healthcare and people are well looked after when they fall on hard times be that through misfortune or illness.

I doubt I will see it in my lifetime, sadly we are more likely to be ruled by Fascists.

I think you’re understating the impact of Truss and Kwarteng’s mini budget. It caused interest rates to rise significantly higher than they would have done and although I haven’t seen clear statistics to show whether it’s many or most mortgage holders that were impacted, there’s no doubt it was a significant number

Interest rates are a function of inflation and currency weakness, put simply if I am going to lend you money I want the same spending power when you return my money.

So Truss was a lunatic and was devaluing the pound with her bonkers policy. As soon as Sunak became PM and reversed those policies the markets settled down, but there was a small hangover. Now without looking at charts I’d suggest it was probably a 3 month period before they returned to a position as if Truss never existed. Anyone fixing during this period would have absolutely been impacted. No question.

Then inflation got involved and no government policy was going to impact that.

at the end of the day a Labour win - however big - will bring a period of quiet contemplative politics especially if the LD's for the Official Opposition. That will be good for the Tories because any of the swivel eyed Tory Loons will not be interested in leading a 3rd place Party. The bot driven Reform UK "SURGE" will disappoint many who realise what FPTP system is but were never bothered by it when they voted UKIP. Expect the bot farms to be fired up again.

Ultimately all Labour has to do is make people feel better off in 5 years - shouldn't be difficult - and show a path forward whilst the rump of the Tory Party argue and position themself and offer nothing and Labour are nailed on for term 2 even with a reduced majority.
