If you split the country into 10 bands or deciles, going from most deprived to least deprived and then look at life expectancy for women and, probably more importantly, healthy life expectancy, it paints a picture that nobody seems to care about, which seems extraordinary.I'm not entirely confident that they will address many/any of the issues as the next 5 years will be taken up by Brexit....
In addition, I saw a report on Sky this morning that was about inequality. I may be slightly wrong here so happy to be corrected, but the financial inequality between the North/South in England is similar to that as West/East Berlin in the 80s. In addition, the health outcomes in the North are comparable to Romania, Slovakia and Turkey and that 95p in every Government £ is spent in London, compared to Germany where they spend 65p on their capital
As I can’t import graphs into this on my phone I’ll put it in 10 lines from most deprived to least deprived. First number is healthy life expectancy and second number is life expectancy. Also, as I’m not a leader of a political party, I’ll embed the link......
1. 52.0 and 78.7
2. 56.9 and 80.3
3. 58.2 and 81.6
4. 61.9 and 82.5
5. 64.1 and 83.1
6. 65.8 and 83.7
7. 66.9 and 84.2
8. 68.2 and 84.6
9. 68.7 and 85.1
10. 70.4 and 86.2
That’s over 18 years of healthy life expectancy difference between top and bottom.
