So the issue is we don’t know what standard it was up to prior to being washed?
Why would it need to be washed if it was already up to standard. Is there an argument behind that?
The Americans wash all chicken to kill ANY present bacteria, regardless of it's condition. It could have been free-range, well kept, slaughtered ethically and hygenically, it would still get washed. Once it's washed, there is no telling what condition it might have been in as the chlorine does such a thourough and effective job at making it safe to consume.
You don't trust and doubt US businesses about the standards of the meat before chlorination. I don't. That's all it boils down to.
