Surprised or I missed it that no one has mentioned the Farron interview by Andrew Neil, that was a painful watch.

My partner and I can't even get a visa to live in the country because of the right wing views the current policies have. I have to earn over a certain amount for her to be granted acceptance into the country which is way above the average wage. If I want children I have to then earn over 2kGBP extra to be able to have children with her. I think if I want kids with her it's in the region of 26k-28k per year.

I'm trying everything I can to stay in Australia because it seems easier for the both of us, even after being ripped off of $109,480 in the last few years by my previous employer.

What a sorry state of affairs.

Jokes :) As an Australian you have reasons to be accepted other nationalities don't in my view, though on the flipside - unless your a specialist, you're unlikely to be the type of worker the country has a skills shortage in - we already have a huge oversubscription to job postings from people already here (taking the example you may have similar education and skills to the common Brit). We have a huge issue with services for the population at the moment so it makes the decision for us - we can only accept people who fill skills shortages. Unfortunately the morons/frauds/sell-outs that have been in power didn't have any foresight/didn't care to manage this from the get go and those immigration spaces have been taken up by a load of immigrants with little if any skills, many of whom can't speak English and are here to "milk the benefit system" (the words of MMA fighter Tam Khan from an immigrant background, in his rant last week about British born extremists - Facebook took his account down temporarily after that which gives you a clue as to how many people reported it). As I said before, there was an immigrant on Question Time moaning about such immigrants where he doesn't feel like he's living in England - there's many places like that, the culture of the community isn't British - that's how bad it is that one of these immigrants themselves have to be the one to raise it publicly but everyone else is scared to address legitimate, logical and sensible concerns to have at risk of being demonised. Besides that, such people con the system through the refugee crisis when their country isn't in turmoil or by claiming family already here.

Why does children affect it? Surely the Govt. can't grant a visa and take if back if you have a kid? Are you talking about a temporary visa? Only thought would be to stop people getting those, then having kids here to be able to stay.

P.S. The Irish citizenship laws are generous if you have Irish heritage. If you got Irish citizenship - you can live anywhere in the UK too by law (unless there's UK rules about how long you've had it but I doubt it).

P.S. I don't think the English are the best example to use for expression of culture.
