The rich do not "benefit" from low taxes. This is absolutely warped thinking. Someone on £500,000 a year pays 45% tax on most of their income (more than twice the rate of normal people) and has zero personal allowance. How can you possibly say this is them "benefitting" from low taxes??? These people contribute VASTLY more money that the medium-well off or the poor. Now you can argue if you like that the rich should pay EVEN more. That's fine, I understand that argument (though I don't agree with it). But please, let's keep the terminology right. You'd like them to pay EVEN more.

The private medical insurance they have, they pay for. The private school fees they pay, they pay for. The donations they may or may not make (the vast majority clearly make no donations at all) is their money. And what is this imaginary payback to which you allude?

I understand you have strong socialist principles, but honestly mate, it's starting to sound rather bitter if you don't mind me saying so.

You're from Derry, you shouldn't need educating on these things. Bloody Sunday was an atrocity, some might even say terrorism when the British Army following instructions from the British Govt indiscriminately killed catholics on a civil rights protest. That is deplorable and was the catalyst for the worst of the troubles over next 26 years and encouraged many new Republicans to join the movement. Most people just want to call the IRA terrorist scum without ever understanding the sectarian state they lived in nor admitting that the British were partly responsible. Killing innocent people can never be accepted nor condoned but that doesn't mean you can't sympathise with the position they were in.

The last part of your post just shows what an aggressive poster you are and I'm done with you quite frankly. Every post is the same, you're the most defensive, highly strung poster I've ever seen on this forum and that is not an easy achievement.

I do not need lecturing on Bloody Sunday. The last part of my post was written after you called British soldiers/unionists murderers you now qualify that by reference to Bloody Sunday. You choose to ignore the carnage caused by the IRA gangsters. You know let's just leave it at that, but please do no lecture a person who lives in Derry about what goes on here, when all you know about it is from the leftie press errr let me guess is it the Guardian?

What would amuse me if it wasn't so ****ing infuriating is when McDonnell in particular talks about the government "giving" people money, when what he really means is TAKING LESS OF IT.

I've heard him specifically talk about people contributing to their pensions, being *subsidized* by the government, in that the government doesn't tax their pension contributions. It's totally sick thinking.
