Does the standard of the politician relate to image, 'presence', oratory skills, political intelligence or statesman like aura (or a mix/all of that)?
Knowing little about Macron or Trudeau, I suspect we'd have seen a different campaign if one of those were 'heading up' the Labour party (May being absolutely there for the taking - words plop out of her face like a malfunctioning robot)...someone with a little more gravitas (and a bit more central, albeit left of).
Corbyn's likeable mind (and far more so than any of the others put forward to lead the party back then) but not sure he's going to swing that silent majority.
Farron (described as 'someone about to burst into tears after finding out his cat has been run over') seems passionate about what he's saying...just comes across as a little mad.

You really think security would be better under the leadership of a man that voted against anti-terror bill for the last 30 years?

Yes, May is reducing police numbers and not doing anything about known jihad's, she has failed terribly on security.

Fair enough, if thats most important to you and you think thats what tories will do.

I would probably believe that in 2010 but weve had a conservative "strong economy" for 7 years, doesnt really mean much if most people dont see any of it. Looking around it doesnt feel like a strong economy or a positive future to me.

There's a long way to go mate and you have to start somewhere.

Borrowing rates are at their cheapest in ages. You'd have to be a fool to not seriously consider borrowing now.

That may be true but Labours costs will spiral out of control and the borrowing will be en masse as I said.

Borrowing some now might be savvy but I don't trust them with the economy at all.

She had reduced police numbers and they've been stable for the past few years.

She's already said she will look to change the law as at present those that were "known" hadn't actually broken any laws. There's a load of lefties on here that oppose changing the law "as it's the thin edge of the wedge" etc.
