Look at Yaya. At 23/24 he was in the Ukraine and Greek leagues then went on to play for Barca and arguably one of the premier leagues finest players.

Aubangabangayang was touted for a £50/60m move to us that most were keen on but fuck knows where he was 3 or 4 years ago.

He was at Milan... then a million loans to french teams before dortmund picked him up

There will always be these hidden gems. Selling clubs need to manage this risk by either taking a lower initial fee but having opportunity to get the player back downstream, or taking the risk and having jam today.

I would think that any club selling a player without such a clause has seen enough to be happy to take such a risk, and if it comes back to bite them, it's just put down to experience.

I'm sure there is some anorak out there who has maybe collated this level of detail to see what risk has been realised over the years.

Might be the reason we seem to be sweeping up the young talent at the moment. Has Pep got Mystic Meg on his first line :)
