General transfer rumours

No,ive never thought he works hard enough without the ball.Isnt he also a notoriously lazy trainer?

Completely agree & I'm sure I've read/heard the same thing about his training too.

100% effort from Sergio & Yaya would be like Christmas come early for me although i would be content if Yaya is already marked for transfer & only Kun had to crank it up a notch. He needs to be up there with Messi, Neymar & Ronaldo in my opinion.

I think most forwards are poor trainers, they just want to play and score. The thing I find most frustrating about Sergio is that he does it when he can be arsed, so if we're under the cosh as a team, its usually when he's least likely to do it, but if we're on top, several goals up, he's looking for the ball to get more, I think KdB is similar, both great players, but if they added that regularly to their game they'd be the very best.

The best teams all work hard off the ball, and in our best seasons we have too, and for me its what separates 2011/12, and 2013/14, from 2012/13, 2013/15, and last seasons debacle. Luckily we will soon become the best, because we now have a manager who will accept nothing less, and he will demand it in the right way.

It's funny you say that because I watched Sergio closely on Saturday and he put in a very distinctly half hearted effort. De bruyne put the effort in but is no way near match fitness and/or fatigued from playing three games so close to one another with so little preseason behind him.

Spot on about last season as well.

I said to my lad that if we hadn't taken him off when we did, we probably wouldn't have scored that third goal. For one thing Sergio (of last season at least) wouldn't have won the ball back like Kelechi did, and at the end of the move he would have shot (probably into the side netting) rather than pass to Nolito.

I've often criticised Sergio for his work ethic, so I'm really pleased Pep has made note, because if he upped his work ethic, he could be better than Messi, and that is a mouth watering prospect.
