General Videogame Thread

Hopefully this helps. I didn't explain it well.

This is what happens in most third person games in my opinion when you move the character with just the left stick. The player rotates 180 degrees with each change of direction.

This is the same input on for TLOU

For me the second one makes turning around and repositioning the camera behind me way more tricky and therefore not as fluid

I mustn't have played many third person with this method, certainly it's the first triple A title I can think of with it.

Realise it's just my opinion but wanted p explain myself better.

IIRC, don't you just click L3 and it does a Joel and Camera 180-turn?

I might be pissing in the wind here but does anyone know if Steam may do a sale on Ubisoft titles soon? Want to purchase some DLCs for Assassins Creed but don’t want to pay full whack. Annoyingly, uplay and epic games have done sales but they’re not compatible with my base games (steam).

On PS5: Turns out the Spider-Man title isn’t even a new game/sequel. It’s a DLC on the existing Spider-man game. They failed to mention that!

I’ve never even played Last of Us/Horizon so not sure what to make of them. By the sound of the reviews I’m missing out.

Rumour is the steam summer sale will happen first or second week of July

If you have a PS4 now, I'd be very tempted to pick up both of the originals and play them.

TLOU is one of my favourite games ever, just a brilliant, brilliant story-driven game. Mechanics of it work perfectly, it's challenging but just about right - its only major criticism was the linearity of the areas, but it's an interactive film, so to be expected.

HZD didn't quite do it for me, as a predominantly single-player-player, the story was poor, hackneyed. However there were great ideas in there executed really well, the bow mechanics and enemies weak-point systems etc was really fun, if limited.

That's the Resi Evil 4 deliberately awkward camera angle. It works on Resi 4 as the deliberate clunkiness adds to the fear factor, just like not being able to move and shoot, but I agree it was a bit of a pain on TLOU and didn't seem to serve a purpose like it does on Resident Evil.

I do have one. I might try both some stage as I do enjoy story-driven games a lot. HZD is coming to pc so might give it a go on that.

I watched the first few minutes of the ps5 reveal but found myself thinking "consoles are just not as good as pc" and turned it off. Ever tried tracking a headshot when in ads with a sniper on console after pc? It is just to slow even with high sensitivity thus is instantly very frustrating. I also have a 144hz gaming monitor now and a rig that can play at those frame rates so dropping back to 60fps feels clunky.

Anyone tried the C&C remasters? Nearly finished the soviet campaign, 17 quid perhaps a bit steep, a tenner would've been about right.

Fifa 20 available for 8 quid on ps store, havent played fifa since Giggs, Davids and Roberto Carlos was on the cover, but for 8 quid Im tempted. How is fifa these days? Dont I have to spend a load of dosh on top for some stupid cards or something? I dont understand.

Edit: I did dabble with the Adebayor and 'Tevez with his bulldog like approach' edition, about 10 years ago, but only played for a couple of days.
I saw this earlier and downloaded it. Fuck me FIFA is an absolute load of shite

Thought I'd get it for career mode, etc. But the gameplay and graphics are shocking. Pro Evo has a lot of faults, but it plays a lovely game of football

What are people's opinions on Warzone? Downloading it now and interested in getting into a BR game.

Played Fortnight and didn't like the building part of it and got bored of Apex legends after a few hours. Not played a COD game in years.

I'm on Xbox One X

Yep. My own view is that it was best around 08-12 and it's been downhill ever since. At least in the earlier games you could really notice changes in graphics, now it's all very bland. I think additions to it like Ultimate Team are problematic too - I imagine EA are making a fortune off the back of it and can just recycle the current model so there's not really an incentive to make any progress anymore.

Same old story really, it all came down to micro transactions.

First one I've played since the very first (2003?) Definitely got money's worth to be fair. Best to have mates on for BR though.

I'm actually shocked at how bad it is. I'm a pro evo man but thought I'd give it a go for the career mode. It's terrible, I never thought it would be this bad. I can't understand how people still buy it.

Agree on the earlier versions by the way, after pro evo 6 FIFA was miles better, definitely not now

Also, ultimate team - who gives a fuck about unlocking a new ball??

It’s hard, very very very hard. However if you plug away and get into it, it can be great. I actually play more of the multiplayer games which are great, tend to stay away from the battle royale (warzone) element.
