General Videogame Thread

Maybe a vid for the spacex thread, but Covid let me hit KSP properly despite owning it and playing on and off for 10 years until lockdown, it has become an obsession, and now it's had its last update, and here's a nice video about how it has changed lives.

Bit late on the BF hype train but there's still plenty of lads I play BF4 with on PC if you're someone who never got into BF1/5 but still enjoy the franchise. Still a fantastic game and whilst it kept respectable player numbers, they've shot through the roof since the BF2042 trailer. Servers are packed.

Anybody playing “The thrill of the fight“ on the Oculus. It’s a boxing match simulator.
Apart from not actually feeling any pain when you get punched , it’s excellent.
My arms are aching today, it’s a decent cardio workout as I come off it dripping.

I downloaded the Gamepass version rd2 online as I thought it had the single player game on it but it doesn’t, it looks stunning but is it worth playing the online bit only?

No it just red dead online for gamepass. Shit ton of things to do online, a lot of missions and the majority is enjoyable however 2 things really let it down.

First is the grind. The currency online is gold bars. Most missions you get paid in gold nuggets(100 gold nuggets = 1 gold bar) so be prepared to grind. There's daily weekly and lifetime goals to achieve which can be done by doing random things like killing and hunting animals. The main missions are really where you get the best loot but to purchase things in the game is expensive BUT you can of course buy gold bars for REAL money if you want.

There are set professions you can choose and bounty hunting is defiantly the first one you should go for. Its the easiest and gives you a good supply of money.

Second is that some players are absolute dicks. Some posses will see your a newbie and will just kill you outright and whatever your carrying will be stolen. Now rockstar have introduced some ways to counter this.

First 100% play in defensive mode(You can change this in the online settings) This will make you stronger and harder to kill but more importantly it will drop you in a world server where other players have chosen defensive mode so the chances people are dicks to you are low. However if you go in defensive mode some activities are not available. The biggest one being legendary bounties which have the best loot but the risk-reward is that other players can hunt you so you have to get the money back to your camp or a bank before someone catches you.

Another way is to report players. Everyone has a star rating and if it gets to a certain threshold rockstar can ban and even take stuff off players.

DONT play on PC. Its rife with hackers. Good guide here about online

Overall its enjoyable unlike GTA online but I prefer the proper single player game but RD Online is good fun

Just got to the chemist horde bit. Fuck me been killed about 10 times. Any tips?

If you want the very easy method. Just kill a few and run off. Some will chase you (if they are close enough they won't give up). Others will reach a trigger point and then start walking back to their nest. Once this happens then move in close and rinse and repeat. If you want the fun way. Wait until they have left to feed or roam for the day and go into their nest and just fill it with bombs and traps. When they return set them off. You can pretty much wipe out entire horde's in one go using this method.

I’ve only played the single player game at the moment and never been online with it. Love the single player story though.

Finally did it, napalmed an arse load than ran in cafe were they Couldn't get in. Killed a load more than ran, as you said, and picked the rest off.

Despite having access to a new X a semi decent pc, ps4 pro and a quest i have found myself drawn back to playing C&C generals Zero Hour (despite being absolute pants at the game).

I only play against the Ai but I have heard that a fair bit of fan remastering has gone on i was wondering if anyone has a good starting point to tap into these fan updates.

I finished the story a few weeks back (as previously posted, it has become one of my favourites of all time) - I made the move over to RDO to see what it's like and it's fairly enjoyable.

As others have mentioned, it's a good old grind and for you to progress relatively quickly it relies on doing a daily mission every day for gold multiplier - not a major issue but one I'm not a massive fan of.

There's lots to do, a variety of jobs and missions and the dailies do add a different feel when you log in but for me it's definitely missing something for me to play it past the achievements. Although I've not maxed everything out, the lack of choice once you have will be the killer for me - I want to buy property and businesses, I want to go do a major robbery with friends, I want to make my camp bigger and better like the story but apart from a shack for a role, a dog and a flag for my camp it just doesn't have enough for me to play it full time.

the place I work used to regularly play Redalert online.

I'm in no rush to get into it but I was wondering if any Bluemooners had experience with Sega Saturn emulators/ROMs? There are guides online how to do it but would rather draw from our pool of knowledge if I can.

As a kid I had a Sega Saturn instead of a PS1 and I owned a game that would be considered fairly rare, Shining Force 3. Even now I still think the game can fetch 70/80 quid online, and it was probably one of the first games to be big enough to require a memory card (the Saturn actually used a lithium battery to power it's save function, but it took me many years to realise that). I broke out my Saturn from my loft at home in my early 20s and played SF3 for longer than I ever did as a kid, but got a good few hours in and realised my disc had an unrepairable glitch. If I was a lesser man I could sell this disc to a collector and they wouldn't know until I'd vanished off into the sunset.

The game is a trilogy but only the first part was released in English, with the other two only being released in Japan. Fan translations have been made and I'd really like to play this game in its entirety one day, so was just wondering if anyone on here had ever tried their hand at Saturn emulators.
