General Videogame Thread

That's me cancelling when I get home tonight.
I've had ultimate for 3 years and probably downloaded 3 games with cod the only game I play regularly.
Think I'll go back to core
You can buy a new ps5 plus subscription for the year for £100 more than Gamepass ultimate for a year, they’ve proper shot themselves on the foot.

Don't even use gamepass as i'm on playstation but Its an unreal price hike. A 50% increase shortly after a 33% increase is outrageous. Its gone from them trying to subtly pickpocket you to just a straight hold up.

Everybody will rightly be focused on the price aspect but if you look beyond it, this change is so weird. people are on gamepass for day 1, largely single player titles that they can plough through and move on to the next one, that is where the value in a subscription service comes from, so why the fuck would somebody want access to the fortnite battle pass where all their time would have to be focused into playing 1 ever-present free to play game instead.

adding that benefit quite literally devalues the service, you can't be somebody wanting to play all the day 1 games, and somebody wanting the ea/ubisoft back catalogue and somebody who wants the premium fortnite plan all in one. It's pretty much a 1 or the other decision so why pay for both? Theyve shot themselves in the foot here. They'll be a big pushback on this, I wouldnt be surprised to see them scale back the increases. Just hope sony/Nintendo take warning from the reaction Microsoft will get and dont try and pull the same shit with further price increases of their own.

The Fortnite thing is bollocks apparently it includes all the season passes, which I think is around £10 a month, well I don’t play it so why the fuck would i want to pay for it? They’ve fucked up royally here, the cost of living round the world is shit and they want this, well guess what people will leave. Think I’ll be using steam from next June when it runs out, and use my PC, which means I’ll not be buying BF6, arc raiders or helldivers 2 on Xbox now.

My xbox app says game pass ultimate is £22 99. Next payment is today.

logged into my Microsoft account and it says its £15.99 and next payment is today.

I can tell you Silent Hill 2 is an outstanding game. I saw my missus play and it’s really good.

Picked it up for twenty quid off Facebook Marketplace. I wouldn't have been disappointed paying £60 for it. Absolutely superb and only just falls short of the Resident Evil 4 remake for me. Must be played in the dark with headphones on.

It's £22.99 mine went out the other day.

Sucks but since I'm doing the firestick cloud thing it's my only option and to be fair I'd say I get my moneys worth.

Hades 2. Probably the most beautiful game I've ever played. It's immensely enjoyable, and perfects the formula introduced in the original.

Another GOTY contender.

Going to be part of ps+ extra lineup for October apparently

Used up some reward points and got Helldivers 2, pretty underwhelmed at first seemed very samey every mission, then I teamed up with a mate and his son at a much higher level absolutely brilliant and bonkers, it’s a complete rip off of Starship Troppers and I’m surprised Disney have been in touch with some of the designs looking strangely like Star Wars stuff. It can be mayhem but if you have some higher levels with you the armour and weapons they bring are life saving.

Cancelled my ultimate game pass yesterday, gone to premium at £12 a month instead.
I have 40k in reward points so gonna cash them in and get battlefield for £35.

Anyone played it yet? IS it as good as the previews have made it out to be?
Yes it’s brilliant. I must have spent about 30 hours on it since Friday, thank fuck for the international break. It’s the most polished battlefield release ever I’d say. There is still issues, but they are minor and not game breaking. Having so much fun on it.

Has anyone played this on the steamdeck? It looks fantastic but Steam says "unsupported" which can mean anything from bag of shite to some minor elements don't work.

Between 18 and 30 fps apparently. Runs like shit when you're outside but fine when you're indoors which is 80% of the game.

OK thanks a lot mate - it looks fantastic and as I will be indoors most of the time I will give it a try.

Will give me a break from re-playing the Half Life series over and over!
