It feels like a World War One game to me. Snipers are so much different to the previous games, much harder to use.

It looks like snipers with high powered scopes, people charging around vast areas armed with automatic weapons and fully functioning tanks that can move at decent speed and kill at will. None of these things are particularly what I imagine when I think of WW1. In my mind the vast, vast majority of people should be running around with standard bolt action rifles, trying to take heavily fortified positions with machine guns emplacements and mortars and the like, with very clunky and hard to operate tanks. Not a massive fan of the unrealistically hard to kill thing they've gone for either, I was hoping for a more realistic experience where you are having to really pick your shot with a bolt action rifle and one solid shot to the body takes a man down, it looks more like you have to shoot someone a handful of times to take them down.

Like I said though, just my opinion based on videos I've seen.

You've got to remember the map they've chosen has kept the more recognisable 'world war one' theatres of war in reserve.

I'd fucking loved it so far.

Firstly you're stating what you imagine of World War One which is fine although you're more describing the western front as opposed to North Africa where fighting was more mobile.

Two shots will kill a man with the bolt action rifle.

Tanks are a piece of piss to kill (and get a five multi kill) if a squad can be arsed to work together. They are also slow as fuck.

I suggest you play it first as it doesn't sound like you have yet.

True on the first point, but I imagine most people when they think WW1 they think Western front, obviously the North African fighting is probably a lot easier to adapt to a multiplayer shooter. I'm sure the main game will have a lot more grim maps from the western front that possibly aren't as spectacular to show off as the desert with all it's excellent sand physics.

It looked to me on the videos that bolt action rifles seemed to only be the choice of snipers, rather than as the standard infantry weapon? It looked like medics also used them but were generally not used, but the other classes seemed to have sub machine guns or light machine guns?

As I said, I haven't played it yet but the videos made the tanks look pretty mobile, more like what you'd expect from WW2 tanks, but I guess no one bothers videoing the bits where the guy struggles to turn a tank or accidentally gets stuck.

No the medics also get them. The assault get Tommy Gun type things and Support get lit machine guns (although most guns are locked other than three per class).

How are you judging that medics aren't used if you haven't played it?

You're very correct on the last part.

The video stated that no one was using medics as everyone instead just pressed respawn instead of giving anyone a chance to revive them, which does ring true for most games with medics I've played previously. (unless they are playing as an organised team or clan)

Have you played that "platinum demo" or whatever it is? It seems to be some part of the game that involves wandering around your weird imagination pressing buttons that change the weather, puts you in toy trucks and shit, while following some weird fox and picking up gold things like on sonic or mario. Hopefully that's not a frequent feature of the game as it was just weird

Yeah it's a dream sequence part of the game I think, I played the demo you got with type-0 day one edition as well, that was the better demo.

Also watched this 1hr gameplay demo, looks amazing!!

May just be the fact it's a beta and lots of COD players are trying it.

And reviving gets tiny points anyway but their weapons are great.

I much prefer Bf1 to Bf4 anyway.
 
Sucked back into Warcraft not got the expansion Legion yet but I find it quite therapeutic, stick Absolute 80s on and just play at my own pace, levelling is such a doddle these days and the dungeon finder helps you see things you'd never have got to do many years ago.

Haven't tried Legion yet either,although it does look good.

Does anyone play any of the EA games online. Ive got the new UFC game or Madden 17 if anyone fancies a game?

Horde and alliance spread over about 5 realms. Kippáx on Thunderhorn and Pabzab on Outland are my main Horde characters. I haven't played for a couple of weeks and even when I do it's only to farm some gold for the tokens.
