Does anybody want to say that this Daniel Bryan thing isn't a work?

Now would be a good opportunity to restate that viewpoint.
I may review my position after a nights kip and the chance to rewatch Raw.

Re: Royal Rumble On Tonight

The payoff is going to be Daniel Bryan vs HHH with Brian winning at Wrestlemania and him winning the title at Extreme Rules in his hometown. "Summer of Punk" all over again.

Re: Royal Rumble On Tonight

Sorry but for me the best era was 88-92, loved it for the drama(obviously staged just like tv programmes)

Warrior, Savage, Hart Foundation, Demolition, Rockers, Million Dollar Man etc, they were great characters as well now they all look same build, same moves and no distinctive features to the characters.

I always check out whats happening online but not watched raw in 7/8 years and not watched a PPV since Shawn Micheals vs Kurt Angle at Vengeance 05, cant wait to see Warrior's acceptence speech at Hall Of Fame, he's off his head

Re: Royal Rumble On Tonight

Before the Rumble i believe WWE had penciled in Brock Lesnar vs Batista for the title at Wrestlemania, with Lesnar winning the Elimination Chamber match (in Brock's home town) for the strap.

I don't think the WWE can do that anymore, they've made a monumental misjudgment in the reaction the crowd had for Daniel Bryan and I think If the WWE does not change course, the two main event participants will be booed out of the Superdome.

They are going to have to find a way to insert Bryan into the title match, while it would be awesome to see Bryan top Lesnar for the belt, the can't ignore the fact that Batista won the Rumble so they may have to make it a triple threat. I think the rest of the card has pretty much booked itself now, with Bray Wyatt feuding with Cena and Sting rumoured to be joining WWE to fight the Undertaker.

Wrestlemania predicted card.

Lesnar vs Batista vs Bryan

Cena Vs Bray Wyatt

Undertaker Vs Sting

Roman Reigns vs. Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins

Golddust vs Cody Rhodes

The Usos Vs The New Age Outlaws (pre-show)

CM Punk Vs Triple H

Randy Orton vs Seamus

Rey Mysterio Vs Sin Cara

Some kind of Battle Royale

wanted Daniel Bryan, the guy who lost the first match, to come in and win the rumble. Crowd's fed up of their favourite wrestler not getting the run he deserves so shit on anything that doesn't have him winning.
okay i see, after reading everyones posts i think im almost up to date.

do you think this could spark an attitude-like era fued with daniel bryan and the wwe ala austin vs mcmahon? or does it not work like this anymore? apologies for my ignorance i stopped watching around 2004/2005!

In a word. No it fucking won't.

Nowadays WWE are all about the younger fans and their sponsors and are not fighting a ratings war with a rival company.
ah so they've become complacent then.

the more i read about it the more it seems the WWE writers knew exactly what they were doing. getting a lot of publicity again after the rumble, might watch the next PPV

Sometimes going after mainstream publicity doesn't work. In 2000 WCW booked actor David Arquette to win their world title, the move itself generated a lot of mainstream publicity but caused an outrage amongst wrestling fans, it was one of the nails in WCW's coffin.

Re: Royal Rumble On Tonight

Finally getting to watch the Rumble now, thanks Guy, and all in all it's been quite good.

The Wyatt v Bryan match was first class, closely followed by Brock v Big Show. Forget the title match as that was the money shot and was it's usual poor Cena/ Orton fare apart from the slightly better than normal ending.

Nice to see a few familiar faces come back in the Rumble if the ending was very predictable. The crowd reaction to a missing Bryan was funny, as was ex-pros reactions after the event.

Re: Royal Rumble On Tonight

Ultimate Warrior and Jake the Snake going into the Hall of Fame this year so far.

Great news on Jake, his drug and alcohol problems have been so bad that it's a minor miracle he's still alive. DDP has done fantastic work with him and Scott Hall.

Still the best talker ever for my money. Rock was a populist who spouted catchphrase, Jake had an aura and a style that made you instantly pay attention. He could have been a cult leader in another life.
