Grown men watching wrestling is very sad considering its even pg now
Almost as sad as clicking on a wrestling thread and calling people sad for watching it.
If you dont like something your not allowed to have an opinion on it?

A general rule of thumb is that if you don't like something don't go out of your way to comment on it and insult those who do.

It may be more enlightening and diplomatic to ask grown men why they enjoy a pre-determined sport/entertainment than trot out the usual "it's all fixed" line?

Been done to death but it's a strange question to ask somebody why they like something. I tried to explain it earlier in the thread.

Trying hard here not to take the piss Dam or seem to being a cockscuker but you are like the cleverest poster and you like WWE?

Yes. WWE is entertaining, athletic and pretty psychological.

It's one of those things that you have to know a bit about to appreciate as an artform. Essentially the wrestlers inside the ring attempt to control the emotion of a massive crowd by getting them to suspend their disbelief and get enthralled in a battle. They then use classic storytelling to keep them going until the crescendo at the end.

Done well, and it's extremely rare nowadays in WWE to be honest, there's very few forms of narrative that illicit that edge of your seat excitement like wrestling can.

Think of it as a live action movie but the director is personally pacing the film to suit the reactions from the audience. That's a decent description.

It's no different from any other TV program. Why do people like Breaking Bad or EastEnders or any other "predetermined program"?

I watch it as it really is a soap opera for men. What can I say to the naysayers.

I know it's fake, I can see the pulled punches, the odd word to each other in a clinch and the fuck ups. But I also see good sometimes great story lines that suck you in, funny promos and unbelievable athletic ability. Sure they wear lycra pants and oil themselves up but it is entertaining.

You also have to admire there ability to take hits night after night. Ok, they pull their punches, but they also land on tables, hit each other with chairs, fly over ropes onto each other and perform all manner of different moves that would hurt like fuck if we did it.

Shit song but you can see what I mean here...
