Two games for George, two wins for the Irons.....apparently he's impressing with his passing range, enthusiasm and aggression.

Encouraging stuff!

Another good display yesterday apparently

@GeorgeEvans70 best performance for @SUFCOfficial yesterday. Kids got talent and a big future

Now i'm not saying he could have been our saviour this season.......but we saw a few weeks ago that talent for ourselves,so,given his enthusiasm and the current state of our midfield, keeping him part of our squad may not have been a bad idea,he certainly wouldn't have added to our problems that's for sure.......

I know seems like a good talent from the Hamburg game but Peller's doesn't trust the English youngsters, especially English youngsters .

Pellers lost it for me, when Evans had a stormer in Abu Dhabi, including great set up pass for Jovetic goal - next game was Boro FA cup at home, expecting George to be at the least on the bench, then nothing and loaned off to Scunny. Evans couldn't have played any worse than Fernando vs Boro if he'd tried. never given a chance and we'll see him sold off for a nominal fee and then be a stable and reliable DM for a Prem team within a few seasons.

Same here. One of the biggest disappointments of the season for me, and I know this sounds like a huge knee-jerk, but still. He just deserved a place there. I've not given up on Fernando yet as the majority of this forum, but that game was the perfect occasion to "risk" Evans. Even Lampard got injured in that Abu Dhabi game, although recovered for the Boro game.

From the guy who brought through such talents as Isco, Santi Carzola etc in la Liga its quite depressing to be brutually honest to see that Pellegrini hasn't given any youngster a proper chance in our team. Must be especially frustrating for George whos been promoted through every age group and even he can't get the obligatory 5 mins game time occasionally that he rarely provides for youth.

I know it shouldn't irk me, as we've all had to develop a thick skin being a City fan the past few years, but when the media/opposition fans slate us to high heaven for not promoting youth I can't help but reluctantly nod and agree with them.

Agreed with a guy on 606 before who was also highly critical of Manuel's refusal to use youth, one classic example he used was when we were comfortably ahead v WBA away and Thierry Ambrose was sat there on the bench twiddling his thumbs when that could've been the perfect opportunity for him to make his debut and gain some invaluable experience.

What is the point of spending £220mill on that new training academy if our youngsters know for a fact, despite what they're indocrinated with all this "holistic" garbage, I know its only just opened but City are doing themselves a big disservice at present.

(Sorry if any typos - written this on my mobile)

My feelings are the same as many others; when Pellegrini was appointed we were fed all the we'll press high, and youth will be promoted. Neither of them have really happened, but the youth one annoyed me the most. It isn't that hard, to put just one EDS player on the bench in a cup game?
Just think back to the 2012/13 season, Mancini subbed on Marcos Lopes and he scored - Now most had never heard of him, but that goal put him up to another level. It was probably one of the most important times in his development at City. With Pellegrini I can't say he's really done that - He played Marcos a few times last year and some EDS players were put on the bench a few months ago, because he had too. Really disappointed on this one.

Can only echo others really. Evans deserved a place in that squad for the cup game based on his performance in Abu Dhabi alone. He had as good a cameo as its possible to get from a kid making his first team debut in a meaningless friendly game... despite it being pointless he still managed to play well and actually stand out.

Yet he was totally ignored. It kinda showed up the gesture of taking the kids to Abu Dhabi as shallow posturing really - it was falsely giving the impression that they were being considered for the weekend game when in truth he probably had no chance.

Ambrose being left on the bench when we were mullering West Brom too really stung. Totally pointless - i found myself thinking 'Would Fergie do that?'......... no. He wouldn't and we all know that. He would have him his debut.

Those two moments are actually the things i find hard to forgive this year more than anything really.

I know he played well in that half out in Abu Dhabi, but would anyone honestly have been calling for him to play if it wasn't for that? He wasn't even on the first team radar, nor was anyone talking about him being a contender for a first team place. I think most people were surprised he was even taken to Abu Dhabi, at least I was. It seemed to be out of left field, he wasn't even getting games in midfield for the EDS. So I think it's a bit much for people to be saying he definitely should have played against Middlesborough or been a part of our first team squad. Do the management base their decisions on one half of a friendly, or on seeing him play every day?

I genuinely believe that if Ambrose or Barker had taken their chance and played like they were capable of and really shone, then they might have stood a chance of breaking into the first team squad, but Barker went into his shell, (where he seems to have been living ever since) while Ambrose unfortunately hurt himself. I don't think Evans was anywhere near knocking on the door of the first team, he was more likely out there as a showcase to get a loan, which he did.

I was surprised, yes - but why take him if he has no chance? Why not Ntcham or Byrne? His performance in the friendly earned a sub appearance in my opinion and he was ignored. Totally the wrong thing to do.
