George Floyd murder / Derek Chauvin guilty of murder

I admit l just went by the way you posted to me - l was pretty sure you were American so l didn't bother researching. My bad;) l didnt practice what I preach last night when l got a message suggesting l was anti police and that l should join the Specials and do a shift with them. Laughable but irritating and a quick glance recent posts shows l certainly another. We all do it.
My Initial reaction was that the British Constitution is enough for me but I might change my mind on that. I suppose it is a weighty document in more ways than one with all amendments but l might give it a go.
It is obvious to any City fan how much fake news there is about and how it becomes accepted as fact. How do you know that Snopes is the one true version?
Snopes usually provides some evidence, inasmuch as any evidence is verifiable. In this case the first eid stamp is in the dubya era White House archive or you can buy a used one from a stamp dealer for 30 cents.

Walker had the right to defend his home when nobody responded to his hail. You make it sound like he just shot at the police anyway.

If that's the case, why pay out $12M to Breonna Taylor's family? The only person to have more paid out was to an Australian woman by the name of Justine Damond ($20M) who was killed when officer Mohammed Noor said he was startled by her coming out of the dark and fearing an 'ambush'.

Noor is Somali-American; a Black officer serving 12 and a half years and was not allowed to used the 'threat to life' defence other White officers use as theirs. Go figure.

As for your other point on this 'body' in Taylor's car, post your evidence as I'm not going to respond to hearsay.

All I will say is I'm surprised she kept her job as a medical worker...

Wasting your time on that one, bet he's got a lovely white pillowcase collection.

FFS you're now trying to equate an incident where someone died at the hands of an officer who was 'startled' with one that was shot! You foolish enough to shot a police officer it ain't ending well.

As for the pay out, the exact same reason as the charges were dropped against Walker. Fear of more violence.

Let's see if you're the first to have the balls to answer this question.

Would Breonna Taylor be alive today if she had cut all ties Jamarcus Glover?

Only a fool equates the shooting itself.

I'm equating the speed of prosecution and 'guilt' of a Black officer in an alleyway against none against any White officers for the murder of someone in their own home. But you don't want to think about that as it doesn't work with your bullshit.

The payout has nothing to do with "fear of more violence", it's actually standard procedure with death by police. The size and speed of it was the interesting part. Not that you'd understand the implications being a bit lacking in research.

And about your STUPID dumb fuck question about Taylor and Glover, are you now saying she deserved to die by association...??

Oh Dax, take a couple of steps back and a few deep breaths mate. You may be semantically correct but that's it. If all you are focusing on is whether or not she was in bed or not then maybe you shouldn't be discussing this topic.

I know it is past the point now, but it's worth wondering why so many are repeating the @SebastianBlue 'shorthand' of "shot to death whilst sleeping in her own home."

This was from Friday. That is Bakari Sellers, CNN contributor using the very same shorthand. You could find similar on CNN, MSNBC, CBS and ABC.

Anyway, I was happy to see Coleman Hughes on the show. One of the very few who only dabbles in facts and not emotions.

Too bad he is not the rah rah type and won't get into shouting matches or grandstanding type talks. But he'd repeat what's factual over and over. My favorite current speaker by a landslide.

thanks for responding Dax. Whilst I agree that noone was actually asleep in their beds and shot whilst asleep I would say that if I am asleep and my front door gets kicked in and man unknown intruders are suddenly in my house making a massive commotion, (admittedly I am suggesting that there was a commotion, but's face it, there is no way in a month of bluemoons that they were doing anything but shouting the fucking house down) then I might as well be asleep. How alert are you in the morning when your alarm goes off? The snooze button was invented for a reason.

For that reason whilst you are technically correct and yes the idea she was shot in her bed should not be repeated, you are either accidentally or wilfully missing the point.

The mere fact that you stated that her being shot was AN issue and not the THE issue speaks volumes to me.

I have no evidence or desire to see this as a race crime and that is not what I am saying but there is a huge procedural and traning (?) deficiency which has resulted in the tragic loss of life of an innocent young woman, shot dead in her own home.

I understand that you seem to desire to hold a counterpoint point of view to pretty much everyone elses perspective but to be fixating on the fact that some people have said she was in her bed at the time, whilst true, is so far away from the point as to be totally disingenous the the central premise.

I did appreciate the video. It was refreshing to see a hugely emotive topic being discussed rationally.

Again, I'll repeat It's not THE issue. And this is not to suggest her being killed wasn't horrific or tragic. It was. But the discussion wasn't about whether she was killed. Everyone is Crystal clear on that. The discussion was about what the legal and policy ramifications ought to be for her tragic death. That was THE issue.

By the way saying her death is not THE issue does not suggest I have any less sympathy for her, or her family. I have as much sympathy as anyone else and recognize the tragedy. But THE issue here was "what ought to be the legal consequence of the events of that night." Let me use an analogy to illuminate:

Suppose she was sleeping in bed and officers ran up in her house and started firing and kill her as she slept in her bed. They would likely be charged and convicted of 2nd degree murder or Manslaughter at a minimum. If on the other hand she was standing next to someone who had fired at cops first and she got killed in the return fire. That takes Murder off the table.

Again, as is obvious from the above hypothetical she was killed horrifically in both scenarios, yet the legal ramifications are different. Thus the issue isn't whether she was killed horrifically, but rather when, where, why, and how?

I mean, this whole discussion restarted NOT because someone thought of Breonna's death and said, 'Oh Gosh, that was really horrific. We should discuss it." No. The discussion restarted because no one was charged for her death and some wondered why. So THE issue here is why didn't the Prosecutors charge anyone for her death.

To answer the above question, one would have to be clear on what the facts are. And it serves us all better if no one obfuscates with shorthands like Bakari Sellers did on that video above.

Those who pretend zeroing in on the key issue is somehow a show of lack of empathy are misguided at best and at worst being disingenuous.
