I thought the Mishra article was great when it came to the earlier postwar history, especially with reference to Adenauer. I didn't find the bits on the contemporary situation to be all that illuminating, and I think he underestimates the role of Islamophobia in these discussions in Germany. That too is an excellent article. Thanks for drawing my attention to it. I had no idea that the Palestinian population within Germany was so large and also the extent to which they have been cast in the role of an ‘out-group’. Also liked the point about German nationalism being expressed vicariously through support for Israel.
