Nobody can say GD isnt a top keeper and an upgrade if Eddie is going. The price is good. Wages I imagine will be huge but you get what you pay for. My concerns is how it fits in with the bigger picture and seems outside of any plan or strategy.

I don't know what site you've been on but nobody has rated Rico as a full-back. Let me a pose a question to you. Do you think we would have won the game with D in goal yesterday? It would help if some commentators fact checked occasionally. For the last 2 seasons Martinez has been voted the World No1. Would you be happier if we had signed him?
99% of fans on here rated him as a full back. Pep, the greatest manager in history, rates him as a full back. He was selected for England as a full back. Just because most people have come to their senses, doesn’t change the fact that he has come through as a full back.

As for yesterday’s game, who knows? Donnarumma might have saved the pen, he might have organised the defence better for the 2nd and/or he might have conceded from every shot on target and/or fucked up in some other way. Its like me asking if PSG would have won the CL with Trafford in net last season…nobody knows the answer and doesn’t get anyone anywhere.

I didn’t select Martinez as number 1. In no way, shape, or form would I pick him over Donnarumma.

Can’t get excited about this deal personally.

Feels like a bit of a United-esque signing and not in a good way.

A big name who’s available, rather than a player who we need or suits or style of play. On presumably crazy wages and impossible to shift if he doesn’t perform or causes issues.

If it goes through I’ll support him as any other city player and hope to be proven wrong.

You saved yourself there in that last sentence.

From Sky Sports Website:

'Donnarumma 100 per cent not the right GK for City'

French football expert Julien Laurens speaking on the Transfer Talk Podcast:

"Is he the right fit for Manchester City? The answer is: 100 per cent, he isn't.

"On saves - him and Thibaut Courtois, there are no goalkeepers better. Maybe that is enough for Guardiola to say he wants him.

"But to play for Guardiola you have to be good with your feet. If you're not good with the ball at your feet, you are not a Guardiola goalkeeper.

"His distribution is not good enough for a Guardiola team. And his other weakness is he does not come for the ball in the air, he doesn't like coming for crosses and corners.

"If there is one league in the world where you have to be brave like that, it's the Premier League. I cannot see how Guardiola thinks 'this is the perfect guy for me'."

Maybe we are planning for the manager after Pep? I really don't think he is going to stay beyond this season.
Makes me even more excited to sign him. Lauren’s is a total ****.

He can’t be as bad with his feet as people are making out. Plays for Italy and the current UCL winners who didn’t exactly hoof it from the back
I wish we'd hoof it from the back at times to be fair

I have seen plenty of criticism of this signing but I think it's exactly what we need. I think we got lucky due to his fall out with PSG. PSG played beautiful winning football with Donnarumma. We can too.

We will need other players too. But all in good time. With this move, I think we are going in the right direction.

Seriously underwhelmed by this, the ***** couldn't catch a cold never mind a cross.

will fuck us off in 2 yearstoo probably

It’s the most popular and the highest standard of domestic leagues but pressure wise it’s nowhere near the top.

Some countries have ultras at the training ground doing all sorts when they are unhappy. He played for AC Milan.

There is not a media in the world like the UKs. There is no comparison
