Gigs Thread

Just watching some sets from the Transmit Festival on Iplayer. Brooke Combe is really good so going to try and catch her at some point. Supporting The Coral in Liverpool at the end of the year but I’m already out and don’t really like The Coral!

I’ve got nothing lined up now until December. Inspirals at The Parr Hall followed a week later watching Manchester Band Arkayla.

That background is stunning. I can see why so few Americans own passports....why would you need to suffer international travel when there are so many magnificent places to see in one country
About half the population do have passports, I’d never be without one that’s for sure. Off to Spain next year :)

Saw Neil Young on Friday. His voice is getting a bit dodgier, but he still puts on a great show. My only minor criticism is that the Chrome Hearts seems to be in awe of the old man and don’t want to overstep their boundaries, which leaves them playing little too restrained and conservative. Only on the encore of Hey Hey, My My did they come anywhere near the gloriously sloppy racket of Crazy Horse.

The Tetons, they’re actually in Wyoming but I live right on the border
Remember them from the movie.

The Clint Eastwood film set in the Sawtooth Mountains is Pale Rider (1985), a Western about a mysterious preacher protecting villagers from a greedy mining company, which was filmed in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area in Idaho

Luke Haines and Peter Buck at Gorilla last night
Excellent
Both were also in the support band Minus Five

Was there not a Kneecap thread somewhere?

Anyway, im off to see Fontaines DC supported by Kneecap (and Chalk) here in Belfast this evening...gonna blag out of work a bit early

Neither have played here since all the madness surrounding Kneecap this summer....im looking forward to it and sense it could be a wee bit mental :-)

Yeah, they are a bit of a Marmite band. The music press made lazy comparisons with them and The Smiths, but I always thought they sounded like a combination of REM and The Jam.
I thought they were a bit of fresh air in the 90s as they were lyrically intelligent compared to the majority of Britpop bands.

Yeah. They got the Smiths tag which wasn’t helpful and unfortunately for them Oasis, Pulp and Blir cornered the market in that era.
