Stayed in London after Cup Final to see Paul Simon in the Palladium on Monday night. It was really wonderful, and included a stunning rendition of the Sound of Silence as the final encore.

Caught Hadestown in the West End on Sunday afternoon too. Great show, and will be going again!
Saw Paul Simon in Dublin years and years ago. Think was RDS, he was really great

I’m going to Glasgow in September to see Two Doors Down, the stage show. I’ve been there before, once around 45 years ago and probably 10 years later for work.

I like a lot of different music but my collection is mostly punk, indie, Springsteen, ELO and a few others of that ilk.

Does anyone know any decent music venues in the City? We’re at the show on Sunday night but got Monday and Tuesday evening free, I know a lot of venues concentrate on Weekends but would appreciate if anyone knows of a decent boozer or venue with music on, saves me talking to the Mrs :-).

St. Luke's (almost next to Glasgow Barrowland, east side of the city) is a busy live venue.
Went to see the Brand New Heavies there earlier this year.
Was an old church, but has a good bar that also sells food...

John Bramwell tonight at The Vale, Ashton.
Saw him at Paradiso in Amsterdam a few years ago, it’s an iconic venue but when we got there Johnny Bramwell wasn’t on, we found out he was at a smaller ”Paradiso” venue. An expensive cab ride to get there in time for the gig.

Someone in the audience’s gave him a large vodka (I think), he said he’d had a few drinks pre concert but his guitar playing was faultless, had a chat with him afterwards, his first words to me were “I recognise that accent”!

Brilliant gig as usual by John.
Terrific guitar playing and singing and hilarious chat in between.
It was also good to hear his story acknowledging the importance of the late Bryan Glancy to his and the Manchester music scene.

Honestly one of the best gigs I can remember for years
Superb
Pleased you enjoyed it. Yeah, they were top notch. I did wonder why the singer is French - proper character, too - and read up about it. He was the singer in short lived French new wave band called Affection Place that supported Magazine (as well as ACR and The Cramps) on a tour over there in 1980....they reformed 7/8 years ago and contacted Dave to see if was interested in collaborating again. Small world in music I guess but amazing how connections can still be made and renewed.
