Give me an argument against this statement

I thought it was pretty well known that SWP and Robinho were Mansour signings?

Zab cost 5 million which is good for a five year dealer.
Jo was a Sven signing that we couldn't get out of.
Kompany cost 6 million and is great value.
TBH was a Hughes signing which, TBH, I forgot about. You are correct that he failed on this one though.

It may be pretty well known by you, but I've never once heard that they were NOT Hughes signings. I always believed that Hughes would not be a yes man manager and that all the decisions would be his.

But you're suggesting the owners were buying players?

If true, I'd have even less faith in his abilities!

You say Jo was a "Sven signing"... yet he signed about 2 months after Sven left! And the CEO made great play of the fact that Hughes had the final say in this deal. And isn't it common knowledge that Sven was told he was going months before he was sacked.. and you think the club would have approved of further signings by him, even though he was going to get sacked!

Or was the CEO lying?

And while I agree that the other signings were good value, my point was that Hughes agreed deals getting on for £80m before September... so how you can claim he was not backed is mischievous to say the least!

Sven could not sign a player if he wasn't the manager. We could have got out of the deal because Cook said we could. The deal was held up because according to Cook, Hughes was reviewing the player and whether to allow the deal to go ahead.

I also take issue with the 'Hughes was tricked into joining'. You didn't have to be genuis at the time to see that Frank was in deep trouble and the way Frank handled Sven 'sacking' was warning enough for anyone if they cared to look.

As has been pointed out Hughes directly or indirectly had the benefit of adding SWP, Kompany and Zabs to his squad shortly before the takeover to go with Jo and TBH and the last minute gift of Robinho. Not too bad in your first few months at the club especially when you consider we also signed Bellamy, Given and Bridge a few months later.

ADUG have also allowed carte blanche to remould the club in his image and given the green light to all of his player requests not to mention backroom and coaching staff.

In short I don't think Hughes can feel too hard done by nor can I see any real mitigating circumstances for his poor return where it matters namely on the pitch and to a certain extent on the training ground. Aside from his own incompetence that is.

You are of course a liar but what about this.

When you are as rich as Roman Abramovich, buying friends usually comes easy. But, in the case of Andriy Shevchenko, it has taken more than two years for the oil tycoon to finally persuade the Ukrainian striker that he should make his new home in London.
Roman Abramovich is making a personal attempt to bring the Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko to Chelsea.
Now let's see what maureens part was in this.

Meanwhile, Shevchenko was often cast aside, seen as a signing made by owner Roman Abramovich who was rarely given a chance under the Special One.

his presence in the first XI was down to club owner and friend Roman Abramovich, and that Jose Mourinho didn’t even want the player in the squad. It seemed that the Portuguese was trying to find ways to make his time there all the more difficult, both demeaning him through the press and playing him in awkward positions, such as on the wings.
So on the basis-
If true, I'd have even less faith in his abilities
maureen isn't your choice as our next manager & hiddink has been outed as a busted flush that the Russian players had lost all confidence in at the end, so i guess it must be Scholari who you want as our next manager.

Mark Hughes is Claudio Ranieri. When a takeover happens Chelsea/City style, the players will NEVER gel in one go. In a way the initial good results, though welcome, were an anomaly. New teams with a whole selection of players with such different footballing backgrounds, suddenly thrown together to make a football team and expected to play like they've been together forever, just don't perform. It's not so much a Mark Hughes thing, but he hasn't exactly covered himself in glory. In my opinion he has done the hard part well, which is bring together the right ingredients to the club but he is not the master chef. He's doing a swell job in preparing City for the guy to come, who should lead the club to glory, if Chelsea can be taken as an example. Ranieri is the main reason things just came together for Mourinho. People forget that Ranieri put in the hard graft before Mourinho then refined Chelsea and took them to the next level. Hughes isn't a bad manager but this season was never going to be bathed in success, at least speaking honestly, I expected to fight for the top 6 and then next year put in a title tilt but not under Hughes. Hughes was never going to make this season a success even if we'd bought Lionel Messi. It's just not possible. Things have to happen gradually regardless of how much was spent, players have to learn each other and learn the style. Rome wasn't built in a day. Neither will City.

Bayern Munich boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has come out in support of coach Ottmar Hitzfeld after publicly criticising him following the league leaders recent poor results.

A lacklustre Bayern were humbled 3-1 in Saturday's Bundesliga clash at VfB Stuttgart which left Rummenigge fuming having already criticised Hitzfeld's tactics when his side slipped to a 2-2 UEFA Cup draw with Bolton Wanderers the previous Thursday. Hitzfeld took off stars Franck Ribery and Lukas Podolski after 60 minutes against Bolton as Rummenigge later seethed: "I am very angry. The audience have a right to see the best team."
Obviously that was 2yrs ago but he's improved with age.

I must plead ignorance here and ask the simple question.... what the fuck are you going on about?

I never once mentioned Chelsea, or Mourinho, or Abrahamovic.

Read my post again. It's about Hughes... you know, the guy that manages City.

You clearly have issues. With reading.

Your post ended with this which although i don't believe for one minute is true, it would infact mean you would not want maureen as manager because Abrahamovic bought Shevchenko & that would mean you would not have" faith in his abilities".
I take it with all the anti hiddink stuff coming out this week which has been well reported on here you don't want him.
So as you've said "it's about Hughes"which pretty much sums what you are here(your choice) for, SO who do you want as our next manager ???????it's not directly a Hughes question so you may struggle but have a go.
