Glaring weakness in Joe Hart's play.

My original post was obviously made tongue in cheek, (hence the smiley face), and I did say Joe is a great goalkeeper, and I have seen 'em all at City since 1961 from Bert Trautmann onwards, but there is always room for improvement in any player whoever they are.

If Joe follows my advice he will do OK.

Furry muff.

Distribution the only thing that sometimes winds me up about him.

Sometimes just hoofs when the pass would be better. Especially when we need to retain possession.

Up there with the other Big Joe for me who was the best I've seen in my City watching days.

If you compare him to Bert then that's high praise indeed.

When was the last time he was in that position and it went through his legs?
It's the next time we're worried about.

Tim Flowers went down to pick up a ball, legs closed and covering any slip through the hands. The ball bobbled up and over his shoulder, with Joe's stance that wouldn't happen. With freak goals there is no right and wrong.
But that was a freak goal for which he couldn't be blamed. If Joe did let one through his legs, he would be at fault.

Anyway, someone told me they'd been watching City v Dortmund in a bar in Tenerife with Bayern Munich fans cheering for City and at the end an elderly German came up and said (re Hart) "I've just seen Trautmann's great grandson".

Colin Bells thingy, did (do) you have blonde hair and looked pretty scraggy ? I think I scored 2 against you but it might have been the year after. Anyway despite what the others say you are right becasue I also noticed his legs wide open and thought FFS. because I was always told the same. Perhaps they don't teach these youngsters proper goal keeping skills anymore. Kids eh.

His biggest weakness is his shot stopping in the warm up. He hadly saves any of the shots the mascots hit at him. Terrbile stuff. Sometimes he almost seems to step over the ball and let it roll into the net.

His biggest weakness seems to be getting in the way of the ball and stopping it going in that net thingy

I agree (funny as f**k).

I was also taught that this was the correct way (Mr O' Neill - St James', Hattersley 1967) . However, I have never ever seen any half-decent keeper do this. I feel that we have been misled somewhat!!

I've heard Joe also works as a part time Ladyboy escort. I hope he never gets the two roles mixed up, I'd hate to see something slip between his legs.

OK, this is not a thread slagging off Joe, he is a great goalkeeper but:-

My heart is always in my mouth when the ball rolls slowly towards him on the ground and he picks it up with both hands with his legs wide apart, happened in the first half for example against Sunderland today.

At school, I was always taught to go down on one knee so IF the ball slips through the goalies hands....(We see this so often) his leg/body is there as a back up.....it seems so obvious...not rocket science.

So come on Joe, sort it out.

erm bigger things to worry about i think, sat at madrid game and after keeping us in the game with about 3 great saves, joe kicked a back pass out for a throw and some bloke behind me shouted "for fucks sake joe get a grip "sigh
