Global obesity 1 billion

Prosssesed, Ultraprossesed food, e-substances have a lot to say. Eat so clean and local produced food as possible, use seasonal ingridens.
That and vast swathes of people sitting in transport for 2 hours a day plus sitting in a cubicle an extra 8 hours, then sitting for your free time too.

Is there a better simple measurement tool for obesity though? What about a combination of BMI and waist size? Would that possibly be more accurate?
BMI takes your height and weight and makes the deduction that your entire body is the weight it is because of excess fat. It's a very basic method of determining how much harmful body fat you have and incredibly inaccurate.

So what would you use in its place? Genuinely interested as I have always used BMI and waist size.

A mirror and "pinch an inch". I've got a 46 inch chest and 33 inch waist and according to BMI i'm overweight. BMI is only part of determining body fat percentage.

But then you get ad's on telly with fat models promoting plus sizes and you're not allowed to fat shame anyone any more.
So true. Some of the ads nowadays seem to be promoting the idea of being proud of your body, whatever weight you are.Excess body weight puts a strain on your heart and can lead to other health issues.

It seems boring and tasteless to go without, but once you get on it, your mindset changes. It's fuel. Why would you pay to fill your car up with crap, and then keep pumping even when the tank was full? Within two weeks most people can retrain their body away from junk cravings.
Maybe, but most people won't. And they have an entire industry against them that stands to make a lot of money selling shit instead. The 'personal responsibility' argument is one that is almost always promoted by the corporations selling the harmful shit, because they know that personal responsibility won't solve anything. But it will stave off regulation for at least a generation.

There's plenty of real-world evidence of the effects of ultra-processed food, particularly in places like the Pacific Islands, where in recorded memory, they've gone from countries that survived on fresh food to countries that rely on imports of mass-produced, high calorie (mostly American) crap, and obesity as ballooned as a result.

Add to that the sedentary jobs people have, towns and cities built entirely around the car, and more two-worker households meaning there's less time to prepare food, and you end up with a country of fat bastards.
