Not even a fan of Pickford and I agree. Eddy's decline in recent years has been massive used to be one of favourite players, but now I worry every time he has a 1v1 pretty much accepted once Al-Hilal had crossed the halfway line that was a goal. That can't fill the defence with confidence either.

Look at Allison, Courtois, Donnarumma etc world class shot stoppers drag you to finals I wouldn't even put Ederson in top 10 GK's in the world right now.
 
I wonder how long people will say that ederson is essential because of his feet when the cl winners keep winning without good ball playing keepers.
 
Been saying this for over a year he always concedes from the first attack we would be dominating a game but don't take our chance they score of their first attack and we are chasing the games and it messes up our rhythm. Love Eddie massive part of our success but he has been awful at the cwc and hasn't had many great performances this year would start Ortega.
 
Personally, whilst someone who can play with their feet is important for how we play we desperately need a keeper who can command their box and who’s a decent shot stopper- those two fundamental weaknesses really need to be addressed.
 
If Ortega wants to leave then we don’t need a new number two we need a new number one.
I’m not saying I want Eddie gone but he needs competition.
Chances are he’ll be off to Saudi at the end of the season anyway.
Let the best man win.
I ain’t buying this backup nonsense.
Get the best in that position and right now that’s not the case.
 
Ederson has been excellent at times. Maybe not the very best at certain times though. But still very decent as is Ortega.

Our system is too easy to defend against and attack. A better shot stopper only papers over this obvious problem.

Pep needs to improve or be replaced imo. We have to be ruthless at some stage.
 
Just feel he’s got worse as the tournament went on, his distribution is normally world class but it’s far from that right now.

He’s got 12 months left that’s the major problem, will his head be in it to get back to his best when he won’t be here in 12 months.

I’d let Ortega leave if Ederson doesn’t want too this summer and bring in Diogo Costa, to fight Ederson for the number one, if Edersons head is not there , Diogo Costa will take his place.
