Goalkeeper situation summer 25

The Trubin guy looked pretty crap against Monaco.

I think this is one where it might take us a few goes to get it right. Very big boots to fill if Ederson goes.

Could be difficult, or all might go well. Hard to say. We might play out from the keeper a bit safer, but see more saves when we're up against it. It might look better to us. Even then though, it might not make the team better.

It's hard to assess the difference between a good keeper and a great keeper. It'll be easy to spot though if we get it wrong.

Some pretty different keepers judging by how they're performing this season, although that could be at least partly due to different team styles.

Not a fan of Trubin and don’t know much about Suzuki, but Chevalier or Joan Garcia would probably be my top 2 favourites, good picks. Would be happy with either of them. Senne Lammens is another to look out for

He reminds me so much of Alex Williams in terms of style, he parrys a lot and gets lucky, from what I have seend of his highlights I would leave well alone.
There is no clear best keeper you can go for though. It’s his first season in a top league and he already has this stats. Can only get better.

I'd like a good shot stopper and one capable of catching a cross.
I don't particularly care if they are good with their feet.
You might not but Pep cares a lot, and most fans understand as long as we have Pep or even similar it’s essential they are good with their feet.

Pep will always go for a keeper good with his feet, that is why he let Joe Hart go before he even got a game

I know its probably an essential for Pep but when I look at recent CL and PL matches, the top keepers that are playing well are regular match winners of their team
I generally cant recall how many are twinkle toed.
Courtois, Martinez and Allison are no strangers to hoofing the ball up the pitch.
I don't think that Ancelotti is too worried whether his keeper is able to trap a ball on his inner thigh or play keepy uppy with it.

Shot stopping he'll be easy to replace
Ball at his feet: almost impossible.

I'm not totally sure that's the case. Agree about the shot stopping aspect though.

Ederson has been a game changer in how keepers are perceived, and just as Pep's influence has spread throughout leagues and more teams play 'his way', just as many teams now require a keeper who is good with their feet.

None of those teams would consider a Joe Hart, but because of that, there aren't as many around who are poor with their feet - at least in the age bracket we'll probably look at (maybe 21-25?).

Obviously there's different levels of 'good' and Ederson has been exceptional. But there will be decent options out there that I'm sure we'll be aware of.

They'll never been an Eddie but the market has never been better for getting a keeper of that mould imo. Cant see us having the Bravo issue and cycling through a few in quick succession again.

We’ve been spoilt by how good Edersons been for us, he will be very hard to replace despite how some go on about his shot stopping.
We’d have won half of what we’ve won without him. He’s the reason we can push full backs and centre halves into midfield so easily and effectively because he’s an 11th outfield player and we outnumber everyone we play every week.

Ederson is only just coming into his prime. I’d be after keeping him for 5 more years if possible, there’s nobody as good for us as him.

Just needs to get back in form, refocus, forget about Saudi Arabia and rejuvenate himself here in Manchester.

I agree. I feel like he’s become a victim of his own success and the hunger isn’t quite there. Perhaps a new City is what he needs, a squad full of players who want to win. We’ll end up signing a keeper for £50m and he won’t be half as effective as Ederson.

None of the keepers being spoke about here are better than Ortega, so if sell Ederson. Bring in an able deputy and give Ortega the gloves. We have a squad of some of the best talent in the world in our academy for goalkeepers, maybe one will break through in a few years.

Donnarumma having a blinder, time to get in Chevalier's ear :p

Coming into his prime? His shit keeping is costing us a game a month!
