Goalkeeper situation summer 25

Nah, Pope is way better than Dubravka. Pope would have had 50 England caps by now if it were about 10 years ago!

He's commanding and a great shot stopper. Garbage at playing out though, as you said, which is what holds him back now.

Speaking of Ramsdale, as someone did further up, I wonder a little if we end up needing 2 keepers whether he'd be one of them. Fee wouldn't be huge due to their relegation and he's homegrown, which we might really need to maximise our squad. If he'd be okay with being backup and obviously he ended up cast aside by Arsenal partly as he wasn't good enough with his feet. But for second choice could be ok.
The best option if looking for homegrown is James Trafford , the bonus of being club trained.

Good shot stopper and good with his feet. He is young , knows our system. Yes he has made a few mistakes but he has faced a lot of shots when playing for Burnley, whose defence was learning to play the City way under Kompany

Yeah absolutely agree. If we need 2 keepers he should be one of them - if he's willing to join as second choice (with a view to fighting for first spot).

He won't be joining anywhere as a number 2, and he isn't right for our number 1 so Trafford won't be coming back.

Pretty much agree. It'd suit us, but not him really. If he were willing to join as 'cup goalkeeper' but allowed to fight for the first spot on merit, then yes. I'd be surprised if that were enough for him though.

He suits certain clubs and teams, under pressure when the ball goes over his head he struggles, playing for an attacking team who gets hit on the break he does a lot better. That is why he did well at Bolton dominating league 1 but failed at a mid table league 1 side and in the Prem when Burnley didn't dominate.

The game against Luton was typical of his time at Accrington. He has improved as is a good championship 'keeper, but not a good prem 'keeper by any stretch.

The new name being thrown around on socials is Vanja Milinković-Savić from Torino, 6 FT 8 and a very good shot stopper with great distribution, He has also saved 4 penalties this season.

To be fair, he’s so young. There aren’t many 19 years or around that age playing at such a high level.

For me he makes the most sense

To put that into context, Ederson has saved 6 out of the 51 he has faced while being with us.
How many has he conceded out of that 51?
The top keepers don't just save penalties, they can also influence the takers into blasting a few wide.
