On the tee on the 13th there's a plaque to commemorate a real one in a million occurrence. In 1976 another father and son game led to one following the other in for holes in one.
17 million to one mate!

Also says average length of time before someone gets an ace is 24 years. So I feel rather lucky I got one in my first season (although I did play one summer in my uni days and got down to 18 then. When I started up again in October last year my first handicap was 17 and I’m now at 11.7)

My Dad played for many years off mid teens handicaps playing Kacky handed. When a new pro came to our club he convinced him that in fact he was left handed. He changed. After a couple of years, he was in single figures
There was a famous cricketer who played single figures with either left or right handed . Sure it was Brian Close

Off to play Nefyn tomorrow & Maesdu on Saturday. Really looking forward to it . Just hope I don’t embarrass myself I’ve not played in a month and that was a abandoned 9 holes because of awful weather.

Great tracks both, Conwy is my favourite in that neck of the woods.

I’ve played Nefyn about 5 times & played Maesdu once about 8 years ago and can’t really remember it . One of the lads who’s playing tomorrow has a house in Conway and he’s country member ( or what ever you call it ) and I’m gonna get into his ribs for a invite

I like m
Maesdu , some great holes. Conwy can be a beast. The last five holes there can eat you up and spit you out.

I am a newish member of my first golf club with first offical handicap 18 (whs) - it is my first proper comp on Sat after playing 3 mid week medal comps. In the week day medals I have been shite, 18pts - 23pts (in general play I usually return 34+ pts off 18) - just not sure why im so shite in comps- think its more a mental than anything - my plan Saturday is to focus on "being loose" pre swing and trying not to be too tight...a la Fred Couples ...I hate making total dick of myself playing with other members, good job its stableford! Anyone else had same issues when they first entered club comps?

I should have been playing Porthmadog this afternoon and tomorrow morning but Covid has scuppered our plans. So I’m at work instead

Still do mate. Generally shoot 79-86 in the week and 84-90 at weekends in tournament play despite playing the same tees, same game and same rules and usually with the same people.

Really? That’s a seriously shit pro if they did that
I've spoken to him, it was Glossop GC, it was more about the fact my mate wouldn't try and change to an orthodox grip. I think the pro couldn't teach something he knew nothing about but as I said my mate just couldn't and wouldn't try the proper grip, he was worse with that one.
