I've spoken to him, it was Glossop GC, it was more about the fact my mate wouldn't try and change to an orthodox grip. I think the pro couldn't teach something he knew nothing about but as I said my mate just couldn't and wouldn't try the proper grip, he was worse with that one.
Fair enough I suppose, would be interesting to see your mates grip! Was he expecting instant results as well?
On hole in ones, I got one when I was 13 and it was the worst shot I hit that day. Downhill par 3, I scuffed it and it just kept rolling. It’s even more etched in my memory because of how long the ball took to meander down to the green. Still don’t really class it as one!
My "wonder" hole in one had an element of luck, 25° rescue (blue head!) pitched about 130 yards and rolled to the back of the green straight into the hole, as I posted got me and Mrs H a weeks holiday to Dubai. Just booked a tee for me and my lad on Ganton GC. If you haven`t been before, it`s in Yorkshire on the way to Scarborough. It`s a cracking course but practice you bunkers shot before you go. You can save yourself £50 pp if you book after 4pm in the twilight slots.

Hotels with twin rooms and golf on a Saturday and Sunday were in short supply but I managed to get Cookridge Hall (same designers as The Emirates in Dubai), Horsforth and Bradley Park ((Monday after two nights on the pop, Texas Scramble), Park Plaza Hotel in Leeds for 2 nights twin rooms, 3 x meals, prize money, parking (£14 pn per car) and buggies on the last day, £245 pp, 20 of us. Took some sorting out but a good deal I think.

Only course I've played in that area is Malton GC which was a good track, I'd seen Ganton whilst looking at courses for our annual trip but it was too expensive.
Hotels with twin rooms and golf on a Saturday and Sunday were in short supply but I managed to get Cookridge Hall (same designers as The Emirates in Dubai), Horsforth and Bradley Park ((Monday after two nights on the pop, Texas Scramble), Park Plaza Hotel in Leeds for 2 nights twin rooms, 3 x meals, prize money, parking (£14 pn per car) and buggies on the last day, £245 pp, 20 of us. Took some sorting out but a good deal I think.

I go on a golf charity auction site and win quite a few bids. Came back from Scotland about 5 weeks ago having played The Dukes at St Andrews and the Kittocks course at the Fairmont £210 and £160 respectively. Both for a four ball.
Ganton is ranked the best course in Yorkshire normally £130 a round midweek so getting it for £80 is a chance I couldn`t pass up.

I'll let you know what they're like, Bradley Park is owned by Kirklees Council but it's just a tenner weekdays for Society's, with soup and sandwiches and a buggy it's just over £23.Thats sounds good. That was a good price you got for Saint Andrews and Fairmont, we're going to go back to Scotland next year, we've played both courses at Belle Isle and two of the Troon Municipal courses on the West Coast, all cracking courses.

Had our yearly golf trip last week, 6 rounds in 4 days in North Devon - played Royal North Devon and then 2 days of 36 per day at Saunton, then finished with 18 at Ilfracombe.
For anyone who loves links golf then I can’t recommend Saunton Golf Club highly enough, 2 absolutely superb courses, a true test of golf.

I’m growing a bit weary of my local course Macclesfield which is all hills and sloping lies so by way of a change looking to play somewhere else one day this week, probably Wednesday. Anywhere relatively flat will do. Styal looks possible but am open to suggestions South Manchester or East Cheshire way , preferably no more than 40 quid green fee. Any recommendations?
