Golf Thread

Went to watch the Open qualifying at West Lancs today, it was fantastic. Brilliant course and literally rubbed shoulders with some fantastic players and it was free entry. Highlight of the day was watching Alex Fitzpatrick's eagle where he holed a bunker shot on his knees. The standard of golf was different gravy. We followed an amateur who qualified, Tiger Kristensen, he's something special, I think he can be a contender at Liverpool.

Anyone a member of Stand GC on here ? 6 of us played it yesterday on a free reciprocal from Romiley GC . We had a fantastic day , very impressed with the course , some excellent varying holes . Course was in great condition especially the greens ( best I’ve been on this season) . One little gripe , we got a bit lost when going over the road to play the 3rd . More idiot proof signs would be helpful. Didn’t spoil our enjoyment though. We also just finished our drinks on the the balcony when the heavens opened , very lucky.

I’ve played Stand and your course, both very good but Romiley is better in my opinion, one of the best mature courses in Greater Manchester. Think Mere, Ringway and Worsley Marriott are my top 3 but I’ve not played all the courses.

I’m a member at Ashton under Lyne, we have a reciprocal with Sale and Lytham Green Drive, we’re playing the latter in September as part of a trip, got on Sunday 10th for £25 instead of £75.

I tend to have a small each way bet at big odds, backed Matsuyama at 80/1, top 8, if I’m not in with a chance after Friday I’ll have another bet after the cut.

Was following Scheffler in practice yesterday. Hitting it beautifully. Putting's an issue, but I'd be surprised if he's not in the shake-up on Sunday.

Btw, lots of City 'tops' around Hoylake. We really are taking over!

Going to have a bet on tiger Kristensen for top amateur, 11/1 , pays first 2 ew. There are only 6 amateurs playing.
Scotty Scheffler is playing great at the moment without winning, so maybe it's his turn.

I’ve not played A-U-L but heard good things about it . We’ve got an exchange day with Sale in September which I’m looking forward too , years since I’ve played it ..
playing PGA National Belfry on Friday. Heard it’s tough but excited to play it .
 
Scheffler looked good last week at the Scottish Open.

Played the New Course at St Andrews today. Cracking course in great nick.

Been today ! if the wind picks up the new 17th hole par 3 will be fun, 1 fourball today had 8 shots at the green & only 1 stayed on there, think its only around 140 yards. Would recommend spending sometime either in the grandstand around the tee or up by the green !!

Yeah I’m really looking forward to that. The weather isn’t looking great!
 
Scheffler to be there abouts, Lowrey was in the frame when last at Hoylake expect the same this time. Max Homa gets my ew flutter. Some rain but no crazy winds expected.
 
Why do the media love Rory M so much? He hasn’t won a major tournament for almost 10 years now yet they go on about him like he is Tiger Woods. There are a few other sportsmen who get similar media darling treatment too. Joshua, Rashford. I don’t get it.
