Good Article in the Independent

You mean like Hamann? Model pro at Liverpool and then shite under Pearce. Comes to life under Sven and was a great player for the team last year. Under Hughes back to shite again. So what methods do you think Hughes and Pearce used to make Hamann say 'bollocks to this' - albeit in German and put in a shift for the team that is useless?

Its all down to man management. If people and ADUG want Hughes and his man management style then fine but all you will end up with a is a better funded Blackburn.

Apart from the stupid comment about Garrido that's not a bad article. We were crap the second half of last season under Sven and if certain players ahve attitude problems then fuck em off for me. I'm not decided on the merits or otherwise of Hughes but I do want players out there who will bust a gut for the club and fans no matter who the manager is.

Best players this season- Kompany, Zabaleta haven't let anyone down. As for Hughes "losing" the dressing room he has got performances over and above what we expected from Ireland and Garrido.

I like Elano but he really should stop sulking. Richards and johnson ? Ultimately players will fuck up and fail to realise their potential becasue of their own inner workings whoever is managing them.

And below what we're expecting from Richards, Didi, Dunne. It works both ways.

I fear that MH uses a 'one size fits all' approach to man management and expects all the players to react to it in the same way. It just doesn't work like this. Good managers, in any profession, are able to adapt their leadership style to the individuals they have under them. If he persists with this style then we will end up with, as Bob says, a better funded Blackburn.

Look there are inconsistencies all over the place at the moment. It is clear that Didi's legs are gone. Its just a year to much for him now. IMO anyway.
We need time to develop. We cant make the leap to the top four in a season. Let Hughes build the team that will make us a solid unit first and then he will hopefully develop as we do. Picking the players that the owners would like to see on top of a squad that he trusts.

Hughes is what we have at the moment. Even if he loses tomorrow I imagine he will still be here at least until January. Until he is no longer our manager he gets my support.

It is an excellent article and confirms what many of us have suspected that Hughes is presiding over a divided dressing room parts of which he has lost. But this tactic of leaking all to the papers is shocking as it will only deepen the division and in no way helps our cause. I was unhappy with Elano bleating to the press and unhappy with Robinho as well. Equally I am unhappy with this story because it clearly is designed to put Hughes case in the public domain and I have no time for that then I did for Elano.

These matters have and should be resolved behind closed doors. How it is resolved seems to involve either selling 80% of the squad or getting rid of the management team. ADUG need to do one or the other and fast because we will implode if this sort of shit continues. ADUG also need to make up their minds as to what they want. If they want Blackburn then back Hughes and bring in hard working players and we can aim for 6th spot and the odd cup success. If they want Chelsea then sack Hughes and his team and bring in a manager that can motivate the quality players that need to be purchased.

Enough is enough.

I agree. Stop posting. You sound like a girl who's just had a hand up her skirt for the first time - "shocking." It's an "excellent" article because it confirms you in your beliefs, end of story. You toss out some chaff, i.e. Robinho & Elano & Hughes are as bad as one another (no evidence is there that Hughes is the primary source for this?), drawing the reader in with the illusion that you are disinterested, impartial, and even-handed (they all "bleat"); which of course you are not.

You deliberately offer a false choice, i.e. "selling 80% of the squad or getting rid of the management team". You consciously ratchet up the tension by stating "we will implode if this sort of shit continues", and I concur, if within the ambit of "shit" you include your own bleating. You save the worst for last, opting to go out on a low-note, "If they want Blackburn...[If] they want Chelsea...". I cannot see the nexus between, "[that can] motivate the quality players that need to be purchased" and everything else you bored me with. Who are these quality players that Hughes has purchasedand failed to motivate? Name those quality players that Hughes inherited and has failed to motivate.

in the 4 years that hughes was at blackburn he transformed them from relegation fodder to a top 10 side getting into europe for the past 2 seasons!

now my argument being given time could he given time transform city from a top 10 side to being a top 4-6 side,i belive he can but in this day and age with pressure mounting up from all corners especilly our own fans i sadly dont think he will.

This isn't his squad,he needs time which as the guy says he won't get,but neither will the next manager.
He's not a poor manager that is a daft statement & if the do it "rag style"means we win trophys then i don't give a shit how he does it as long as he does.
5 yrs the purple nosed twat got at the swamp to get things right & Hughes needs at least that to build City into a major force.
I'll bet half the squad will be history by next season.

Looks like we are finally going to show some patience as a club so lets get behind him and see what happens. There does seem to be an us and them attitude in the team at the moment. The Hughes way or the highway. And how can we judge him if it were any other way. It's the manager's job to manage so let him do what he has already shown he is more than capable of doing. Elano or even Robinho are not bigger than the club and as other teams have shown us time and time again, team spirit and commitment can overturn any apparent gap in the talent department. Hughes will build us a team with those qualities. Hopefully he can do it with some significant talent as well.

As for leaking to the press that would appear to be saying to the fans 'look boys we know it aint good but bear with us cos there are some bad apples here that we may need to get rid of if their attitude does not improve and that will start to happen in less than two weeks..'.

Just adds to what i thought all season . Players not doing what there overpaid to do , what the boss wants them to do . There just taking the piss lazy twats from svens regime

I agree. Id rather these 'bad apples' are gone from our club wether hughes stays or not. Its a weird time to find some faith in the guy but im starting to see it now. I think he will do well if he is given time. Svens regime by all accounts was a free for all, I remember when Hughes arrived there were already stories about Elanos attitude surfacing, especially after the Germany training camp. He is clearly not pulling his weight but is, in my opinion using his status as a key player to undermine the manager.

Bob Kowalski: Excellent posts this morning, clearly lost on a few who refuse to accept all the facts placed before them.

We are at crisis point, and will implode if defeat happens tomorrow.

Les has all but declared war on a number of key players.

Its his last throw of the dice.

All we can do, is keep posting and hope this adds to the limited time scale agent les has.

Keep up the good work.

there seems to be some facts you seem not want to see either by your post!

LOL. Why don't you name those "few"? Whilst you're at it, tell me all about "facts placed before [them]". Tell me about the "number of key players." [my emphasis] Name them. How many? Tell me why they are key.

Did the rot not start this time last year under Sven? Hughes clearly wont accept this attitude, unlike Sven. That to me says these players werent up to it then, and they certainly arent up for it now.

There seem to be alot of people who think they know the inner workings of the club the way they pontificate on here.

I would say 99.99% of us have not a clue what the relationship between Hughes and the players are but we seem to take it as fact that there is a "war" going on. Unless someone can substantiate these rummours why dont people wind their necks in and stop regurgitating rumours that they have either read on here or heard in the pub.

Now is the time for us all to get behind the TEAM and cheer thme on the atmosphere at the CoMS was awful last game and we need to be the 12th man and Xmas will be hugely important to us in where we finish this season.

Forgetting Hughes man management for the moment, it is clear there are players at the club who are simple lazy, disinterested and/or just wanting to pick up the cash. The rot started last January. Now before someone says 'But Sven told them he was leaving' etc ... I don't give a shit about that. They are professionals. These people are paid a FORTUNE to play for Manchester City FC, not SGE, not Hughes. The 8-1 'player strike' result against Boro quite frankly sums up the attitude of a large number of them. That was a disgrace and simply not acceptable, whatever the reasons.

Why do players who want to train hard = Blackburn. Sorry, but they are professional sportsmen. They're not paid to just jog around for 90mins every so often. They're paid to train, train hard, day in, day out and keep themselves in shape. If certain players are not doing this and more interested in a doss about then they have to go. The general consensus seems to be Mourinho would be a top choice manager. Now his ethic is training, training, training. Now if some of our players don't like Hughes training, how are they going to get on with Mourinhos?

Some people also seem to be under the impression that Chelsea went from nothing to league winners overnight. What rubbish. It took them 5/6 seasons of building & a hell of a lot of money (even before Roman turned up). Money does not equal instant success, we're so far behind the top 4 (even behind Villa and a few other clubs) that it will take a good few transfer windows and more than a couple of 'superstar' signings to turn us round.

Yes Hughes has made some baffling choices, but it is clear (to me anyway) that there is an issue with a number of players in the team. A good number of the team were here under Pearce and have played a total of half a season of good football (first half of last season), clearly they are not good enough, they haven't been good enough under 3 managers.

Distinct lack of quotes in the article. Could easily be based on just hearsay. Although I still reserve judgement on Mr Hughes we have to see how things pan out after January. It's probably a fact that 4 -6 of the players don't believe they will be playing first team football for mcfc much longer.

I think the article is OK but it seems to use Stephen Ireland as an example of Hughes' methods working. Stephen Ireland did his extra training all summer off his own bat. Hughes had nothing to do with it.

If the level of unrest in the squad is as serious as this article suggests, then major action is needed and needed soon. These kinds of rifts in the workforce don't just go away. They tend to get worse if anything, and you need to bear in mind what the effect of shipping players out because they're not in tune with the manager has on those that stay.

If Hughes is to remain he needs to do some serious bridge building. Otherwise we are in deep shit.
