Mario is definitely now a City legend. Looking back years from now, seeing the rise of Manchester City, the highlight reels will show him involved in all the pivotal moments. Nobody, with perhaps the exception of Yaya, has symbolised the transcendence of us over our Trafford rivals better than Mario. He'll be the iconic imagery that will be associated with it.

From the wink at Ferdinand, to the shot that rebounded into Yaya's path, to the first two and the Evans sending off in the 6-1, to the last gasp winner against QPR. Mario was there for those magical iconic moments which might never be bettered. These last two years, have been unbelievable, they might never even be topped. Winning the FA Cup, beating the rags on the way, and grabbing the title after their season had already finished, and Mario was there, right in the heart of those key moments.

I've got the "why always me" on a large canvas at home and i can safely say, even though he's going, it'll still stay in its place.

Was pivital in us winning the title, but in all honesty this season has been a disappointment and him leaving is best for all parties concerned.

As punishment I'm banishing you to the transfer forum and you have to read all the threads before coming back.

Awwwww (no pun intended) please don't do that to him Stony. :-)

Oh alright then.

I'm just too fucking nice for my own good.

You definitely are!! By the way, who is this Mario Balotelli guy they are all going on about? My son bought me a 3ft long canvas last Christmas with some guy with a shirt over his head saying "Why always me" surrounded by the quiet neighbours players and 6-1 underneath. Is that him?? ;-)

p.s. for those who didn't get the joke......... I am fully aware of Mario and I like him, shame that the media have made him into a laughing stock. He is a great player and sounds like a fun person to be with. After all if we were all the same where would the light be in the world?

Goodbye Mario, thanks for the fantastic memories and good luck wherever you end up.

Those same old key moments that keep getting trotted out?

Your post will have some of the Mario fans crying now Skash.

Balotelli a city legend? Is he fuck.

Aside from the odd moment of brilliance on the pitch and a couple of funny stories most of the time he caused trouble. I look forward to when we replace him with a proper pro.

Moments, not numbers, make legends. However, 30 goals and 4 assists, when he spent quite a few games of 2010/11 and this season on playing wide left as well, ain't too shabby. He will, also, forever, be the man with the best goal ratio in our first title-winning season in 42 years. He will also be forever, one of the first three City players nominated for the Balon d'Or.

They should have all City fans happy. Great memories for the club. I suspect some will be too bitter to think of it that way though.

FFS. Get a grip.
With all due respect it is no more embarrassing than a lot off the stuff you write mate.
Like what?
I am not getting to the handbags stuff.

You made a comment to my post which went “ ffs this is embarrassing “it was not even directed towards you.

I replied to your comment, but by the time I had replied you had seen fit to change your comment. You must have felt it was inappropriate?

In my reply to your comment I said it is no more embarrassing than any off the stuff you write, which in my opinion it isn't. Unless of course you feel you are intellectually superior to me. Think about it ?.

Good day.

Some very easily pleased Blues on here if Balotelli is a legend to them. What did it for you? The hair? It was, wasn't it?!

The term 'legend', like many other terms has completely lost its meaning due to its overuse today. Anyway can be a 'legend' these days.
If a barman pulls you a pint, someone will call him a legend.

So people obviously throw the term about without really thinking what it means. No point in picking up on it, because they probably don't mean it in its true sense.

Will he be a city legend- No.

But if he is a 'legend' to them, then fine. If he is an inspiration, a source of admiration, or people just like him, then let it be.

You can't deny, some of the things he did were certainly legendary. The t-shirt, no matter how minor, will go down as one of the footballing images of the decade.

Not getting my hopes up but if it is true its a good day for our club and frees up a space for Cavani/Falcao in the summer.
It wont be very good if someone hobbles off injured tonight and is out until May quite frankly it would be the worst bit of business City have done in recent years

Too bitter??? WTF are you babbling on about?

Mario topic for me is a double edged sword. On one side, I am sad he is leaving having failed to deliver on a consistant basis what we have had cameo previews of. The small number but important key contributions he has made for us will always be fondly remembered. We are losing thee best penalty taker I have ever seen. He has never publically dissed our club, Manager or us supporters.

However, on the other side of the knife I think for us to progress to a higher level, we need 100% of our squad giving 100% in every match 100% of the time, and Mario can't get anywhere near 50% in any of those areas. You cannot send a player out not knowing what you are going to get.

The media circus that follows him has no impression on me, it's neither hear nor there.

In the long term, it will effect Mario, as City will go on forever, and his career will end sooner or later.

Mario enjoys the lifestyle of a footballer rather than being a footballer.

I wish him all the success but I think it is time for him to leave now.

No hard feelings and no tears.
