The simple fact that this 'verbal agreement' was only for a 1 year extension compared with the 5 year deal Rodwell signed should show you the difference in potential.

That's not really true, regardless of whose fault it was, you can't deny the whole Lescott thing did have a part to play in our poor start.
 
He scored a cracking goal against us when we won 2-1 at their place courtesy of Robinho and Ireland. But that was just a one-off. He's wank.
 
Lescott leaving only affected the team because of Moyes' stubbornness and his delusion that Everton could keep there best players no matter what.
